Pembrey 30th/31st July

Hi all,

Is there anyone at Pembrey this weekend?

I've just got my overalls and Ill be down at Pembrey at the weekend as the girlfriend is racing - thought if they still needed marshals I could help out on Saturday!

Anyone know who I need to contact to find out?

Cheers,
Tom

Pembrey Contact

Contact Ernie Preece - I have PM'd his number to you. Another pair of hands is always welcome.

Incidentally, the Sign on time for this weekend is now an hour later on both days.. so we get a little lay in !!

Think twice about using the M4 to get there.

I agree, can those local suggest an alternative route for those like me who don't know alternative routes from the south coast?

I live in Cardiff, and left home at 3pm this afternoon to drive to London and it only took me an extra ten minutes to get through that part of the M4. If you are able to time it right as the queues to get through the Tolls can often get quite bad without the extra need for traffic to filter into one lane to go into the Contra Flow to get through the tunnel. You can go through Newport too.

If you are thinking of coming down on friday, leaving it later might be a better idea, the issue with the Brynglas tunnels are bad enough on a normal rush hour, anytime before 7pm is normally a bad idea.
you might get lucky mid day.
but the way to miss the tunnels is to come off at J24 (coldra) head for newport on the link road, and then pick up the signs for the M4, the link road is a dual carriageway around newport.
but from J24 to the tunnels is only about 5 miles, if you come to J24 and it's looking clear, stay on the M4.
but either way its going to be a gamble

From the Midlands, use the M50 South, A449, A40, A465, then A470 South (onto M4 Junction 32)

or you can stay on the A465 and will bring you down to neath at J43.
if you can leave it later, all the better, i came thru at 9pm last night and all was flowing well

Well, I had a great day yesterday (saturday), had an excellent tour of the facilities in the morning with ernie (which was a good idea, now ill always remember where im going lol) and spent the afternoon with the blue flag and matt at the pit exit.

Im glad I decided to take part!

Only bad thing from the day, was the girlfriends midget blew its head gasket at the end of qualifying coming upto Honda, and further investigation, found a piston ring had broken aswell. Sadly, that was fatal for the weekends racing for us, and she couldnt make race one and had to pull out of todays race too!

Anyhow, its all part of the fun and games and I look forward to coming back to marshal at Pembrey in the future.

Rach Dommett should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Hi all,

As another newbie to Marshalling on Saturday at Pembrey, I want to say how much of a fantastic time I had

With thanks to Ernie, it was a real eye opener to see all the roles involved on a race day. From the marshals out on track to those in race control. (Normally I just hang out in the paddock as my hubby races and then run and get the time sheets for him and his team mates!)

I also want to send much thanks to the fab marshals on post 3 on Saturday. They were very welcoming of me and the other two trainee marshals I was with. With thanks to them I even got to blue flag my hubby! I learned a bit about the flags and when to use them and I also learned how important is to document incidents and rule breaking.

I certainly hope to continue to learn to be a marshal!

Missed out...

Disappointed that domestic matters prevented me at the last minute from turning out for an event I had been looking forward to all year, even Sunday didn't bring me a chance.

Was also looking forward to putting some faces to 10ths members names... oh well maybe next time.
