2006 V8Supercar Fantasy Championship: Entries (Warning, Large Images!)

The V8 Supercar Fantasy Championship is entering its fourth year on Network Ten-Tenths, and as always it can guarantee close racing, dodgy officiating and heated rivalries.
The Ford team of lcfp2297 is clearly the team with a target on their back after clinching their first title last year. No doubt the 2006 evolution of SS Sport will again be difficult to beat. Leading the chasing pack are adz_34’s Fords. Last year's title runner up has been on a scorching training regime over the past few months and feels this is his year to be champion!
The 2006 V8 Supercar Fantasy Championship Series is upon us. Gentlemen (and Gentlewomen), Start Your Engines!

1. Drivers

Due to the spiralling cost of petrol, the salary cap has been cut to $2,500,000 this year. Driver salaries have been adjusted accordingly. You can hire up to 4 drivers to drive your cars, although you’ll notice you now have a few extra options with the new pay scale.
Here is how much they cost:

$1,500,000
Russell Ingall
Craig Lowndes

$1,400,000
Todd Kelly
Mark Skaife
Garth Tander

$1,300,000
Rick Kelly
Steven Richards

$1,200,000
Jason Bright
James Courtney
Cameron McConville

$1,100,000
Steven Johnson
Greg Murphy

$1,000,000
John Bowe
Paul Radisich
Jason Richards

$900,000
Dean Canto
Jamie Whincup

$800,000
Paul Dumbrell
Brad Jones
Paul Morris

$700,000
Craig Baird
Jason Bargwanna
Andrew Jones

$600,000
Will Davison
Warren Luff
Mark Winterbottom

$500,000
Jose Fernandez
Lee Holdsworth
Marcus Marshall

$300,000
Fabian Coulthard
Alan Gurr

Other Drivers
If anyone else not listed above drives in one of the non-enduro rounds, they will be valued at $600,000.

Endurance Drivers
Enduro drivers will be available for Sandown and Bathurst, same as last year. More info below.

2. Hiring & Firing

As Team Owner/Manager, you get to play musical race seats more than Team Dynamik! (OK, well maybe not that much )
You are permitted to sack any or all of your drivers in the lead-up to a round, and replace them - so long as you don’t blow the salary cap or 4-driver limit.
To sack/hire someone, post here expressing your disappointment in your ex-employee(s), and your hopes for your new driver(s). You will only be charged a driver change if your team is different at the next round, so there is scope to change your mind if need be.
You can do this twice during the season.

Endurance Drivers
If you wish, you may use one of your two allowed driver changes to hire enduro drivers for Sandown and Bathurst. Your enduro drivers must still fit inside the $2.5M, 4-driver limits. You will automatically revert to your normal driver lineup after Bathurst, should you choose this option.
A price list for enduro drivers will be released once we know who they are (sometime after Oran Park). As an added incentive, the once-a-year brigade will come with generously discounted price tags

So to sum things up:
- You can change your driver lineup twice during the regular single-driver rounds
or
- You can change your driver lineup once during the regular single-driver rounds and also employ enduro drivers
or
- You can exercise your right not to use either driver change if you don't want to.

3. Points:

Points are the same as the real series. Whatever a driver scores at each round in real life is what that driver will receive here, including penalties. Your worst round will not be dropped. If you notice that your team hasn't scored as many points as you think they should have (or more than they should have ), there are a couple of likely reasons for this:
1) My maths stinks;
2) I've only just realised your driver got penalised somewhere along the line.
Either way, let me know and I'll fix your score so its 100% correct.

4. Things You Should Know As Team Owner:

- You don’t have to use all $2.5 million, but DO NOT GO OVER BUDGET!!! You will be disqualified from the round if I discover any creative bookkeeping.
- A driver can be chosen by more than one team - these guys are consummate professionals and are able to drive 27 cars at once.
- Points are the same as the real series. If things don't seem to add up, feel free to query my maths ability.
- Round results and championship standings will be posted here following the conclusion of each round.
- After the results have been posted, you can write press releases on your team’s performance (or lack of). Show us how good you are at distributing propaganda.

5. Team Announcements:

Once you’ve picked your driving line-up, give your team a name, announce some sponsors, racing numbers, liveries, grid girls (pictures please! ), mascots, overseas technical partners and any other stuff you can think of, and of course your manufacturer of choice, then post here giving a detailed description of the copious quantities of hide your team will kick in the forthcoming season.

To make it easy for me, could you please condense the propaganda into this sort of form following your press release:

Quote:
NAME: Anger Management Racing
SPONSOR(S): Black Flag Fly Spray
DRIVERS:
#13 Greg Murphy
#87 Mark Skaife
#666 Marcos Ambrose
MANUFACTURER: Ford
6. Posting Images and Liveries:

Half of the fun of this is creating and posting your own liveries. While everybody likes to show infinite detail at super-high-resolution, not everybody’s screen can take it. While I can handle going over 400x400 (given there are warnings about large images), it's a bit rough posting images wider than a regular screen. I refer you to the piece highlighted in red - 800x600 is probably the largest we can manage without having to dodge the Moderators

7. Prizes:

Yes, Prizes!
Should you be lucky enough to emerge from PI in P1, you get to carry off the fantastic prize of a free one-year Subscription to Ten-Tenths, kindly supplied by Ten-Tenths.com – The Universe’s Premier Motorsport Forum [/plug ], for winning the Championship.
There are no prizes for second. Aim higher!
(Can I also say a big thank-you to EvilPumpkin, MagnetOn and the other forum deities for hanging the carrot in front of us )

Entries are open as of now, so start issuing those press releases!
Your team can be altered without penalty until Adelaide first practise.
Comments/suggestions/queries are more than welcome, either here or via PM.

May the Fords be with you (or against you as the case may be),

Two-Time Champs Roll Out 2006 Championship Challenge

A bright, energetic new look to match a new name and a renewed commitment to swiping back the #1 trophy are key features of two-time series champion Antrodemus' new-look Scuderia Cavallo Ferro as it rolls out its challenge for the 2006 V8 Supercar Fantasy Championship.
With new commercial partner CRC joining SCF’s loyal and established suite of partners in 2006, SCF chief Antrodemus said he believed good times lay ahead for the Team and its supporters.
In 2005 the Team won two championship rounds, and visited the podium on a further two occasions, finishing 9th in the championship and cementing its position as one of the leading Holden teams.
Antrodemus said he hoped the new look would re-energise and refocus the team into championship challengers from the very first round this year.
“We’re about winning races, rounds and championships,” Antrodemus said this week. “We’ve rolled out a brighter, bolder color scheme that is symbolic of the way we want to approach our work this year.
“Just as we are meticulous about the appearance of our team and our cars, we will also be more conscious than ever before of the fine details that make the all difference on the race track. I can tell you we’re continually analysing and evolving the way we go racing.
“It’s all part of our commitment to strive for absolute excellence because in a category that is this hotly contested, anything less isn’t going to get you very far.”
SCF will roll out three all-new chassis to start the new season at the Clipsal 500 on March 25-26.
Jason Bargwanna will partner four-time Bathurst winner Greg Murphy and second-year driver Andrew Jones in SCF’s three-car assault on the 2006 V8 Supercar Fantasy Championship.
“Signing with Super Cheap Auto Racing is a further step forward in my career and provides me the best opportunity that I’ve had to be consistently up the pointy end of the field,” Bargwanna, driver of the #9 CRC Commodore, said.
“I visited the SCF workshops a few times before Christmas and met with the team – who are a young and very motivated bunch – and I believe all of the ingredients needed to be successful today in V8 Supercars are in place there.
25-year-old Andrew Jones has signed on to drive the team’s #56 Commodore, debuting at the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide in late March.
“I know everyone says this when they sign a deal, but I am absolutely rapt,” said Jones, the 2004 V8 Supercar Development Series champion.
“When you add in the engineering platform that the team has, you have a strong combination.”
Greg Murphy, driver of the #51 CRC Commodore and four-time Bathurst winner, is also eagerly looking forward to season 2006.
“As a Team, I reckon we’re hungrier than ever after few successes last year. We’ve got the most experienced and stable Team in pit lane and we have learned plenty in the last couple of years. Now it’s time to do something with it!”

Rowdy should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
After a strong finish to 2005 and the succcessful expansion to 3 cars, Rowdy Mororsport are in a state of total chaos leading into the 2006 season. With former team boss Orccon King moving on the team is still desperately trying to find sponsorship and drivers for the new year. Add to that the new salary structure which will require additional investment to do the sums, negating any cost reducing benefits foreseen by WOOFVESCO things are looking a little rocky with round 1 only a few weeks away. An announcement on the teams future is expected in the coming week.

2nd Place is 1st Loser Racing kicks off Season '06 in style!

Joint 2nd place getters from last year Cliche Motorsport have new owners for the '06 season.

We have changed our name for this year in a bid to shame our staff into doing a better job. 2nd place is simply not good enough, sure there was the millions of dollars in lost revenue from the wonderful folk at WOOFESCO that we missed out on by coming second but more importantly it was the prestige in standing on the scrapheap of all the other teams and saying "How do you like that beeearch!".............But I digress

For season 2006 TPIFLR is proud to announce that we have decided to terminate our useless FORD contract in place of a more lucrative HOLDEN one.

In additionTPIFLR is also happy to report that we have retained the services of Jamie Whincup as lead driver. Jamie will be driving an all new No. 0 Team Australia Holden Commodore VZ in this years Championship and will be our top gun. All our ille..... whoops i mean legitimate advances in technology will be put into his car first and foremost.

Driving car no. 07 will be another young gun in "Frosty" Winterbottom. Frostys car will be sponsored by Jack Daniels and Pizza Hut, ensuring a mix of high speed and reckless delivery driving!

and finally in car no. 51 John Bowe in the Supercheap Auto Holden. Bowey won the role only because Greg Murphy priced himself out of contention for this role. JB is on a race by race contract with TPIFLR and must perform early if he wants to remain in the V8 series. No pressure old timer......

So there you have it 3 cars, some awesome driving talent and new Holdens for season '06. Last but not least the owners here at TPIFLR congratulate Antro and his bean counters on tightening costs on the series and allowing the real heroes, the team owners the chance to save some money and put it to where it really matters.............................our luxury yachts.

Fusion Team Green - Media Release

Welcome to what will hopefully be a much more successful year for Team Green.

After what can only be descirbed as an absolutly pitiful display of "racing" from 433 Motorsport, everyone involved has decided that there was need for serious change.

Not surprisingly a lot of the team financial supporters pulled the pin after just one year, to look for greener pastures. Team Owner Dean Robinson, says "good riddance, if they aren't prepared to give us buckets of money with little or no return, then they are not the sort of sponsor that we are after".

In what was a surprise for the team, secondary sponsor Fusion Car Audio, approached with an offer to step up to naming rights sponsor for Team Green.

Another exciting partnership has been formed with Coopers, in what can only be described as apioneering move by both parties. Coopers will feature prominently on the bonnet, and front corners of th of the Team Green Commodores. Robinson announced "we finally a quality drop for the team to drown its sorrows with."

LG Electronics will continue their sponsorship and supply of the team for 2006, after being pleased with results achieved last season. Robinson strongly denies the rumours that imply that the executives of LG were fed false results, in an effort to encourage more dollars for 2006.

Last year's type sponsor (who can't be named due to them not paying us to use their name anymore), finally got jack of seeing Dunlop plastered allover the team type supply, and packed up and left as soon as the season finished. Dunlop Australia have come on board and have absolutely no problem with their own name being plastered all over our tyre supply.

Gatorz Eyewear have struck a deal with the team that will see them provide sunglasses for every member of the team, to help reduce glare from the ever-smiling Craig Lowndes. It is beleived that this 'glare' was the cause for at least one of the teams accidents last year.

BP have joined the ranks as an official supplier, and will be supplying a special blend of Ultimate only to our team which will....I've said too much....

After the outstanding success of the products produced last year, Biante have again agreed to produce scale models of the Team Green racers for 2006, and hope to better last year sales of 3.

Once again to good folks at Holden and HSV have been able to provide some funds to help our cause, but nothing will be more helpful than the data that comes with those funds.

The team's official clothing supplier for 2006 will be Puma. Team Owner Dean Robinson said, "we search for some clothing brand that had something to do with lions, but Puma was the closest we could find."

Transport sponsorship dollars from Kenworth Trucks, who have also supplied the team's brand new transporter, and Toll Holdings, who will lend us transport to prevent detection when transporting cars to and from Woomera.

And to give the teams owner some sort of coverage, after being replaced as major sponsor, 433:design and HRT433.com will be shown on the boot lid, which I'm sure the Britek cars will see plenty of.

That just leaves the announcement of the two drivers for 2006. The team seriously considered signing three dirvers for 2006, but didn't like the talent that was on offer in the loower end of the price spectrum.

Driving the #433 VZ Commodore in 2006 will be Todd Kelly. Todd sees 2006 as "his year", happily stepping in to the role of lead driver after an impressive 2005 that saw him as the only Holden driver to score multiple round wins in China and Darwin.

"I had by eye on Todd last year but went in another direction, looking back it probably would have been a better decision." said Robinson, "despite being more than happy with his old team, Todd couldn't resist the money we waived in front of his face (or the 'motivation' pressed into his back)."

"Look, I couldn't be happier to be joining Team Green in 2006. They seem like a great bunch, and I can happily say that I think I got the good deal cause we're a much better looking bunch than we had at my old team...."

After promising the World and only delivering us a small uninhabitable island in 2005, Greg Murphy will again pilot one of the Team Green machines. 2006 sees Murphy switching to #43 in an attempt to recapture some of the form from previous years, that seems to have deserted him last year.

"I'm thrilled to be back, the check I sent them for Christmas must have really done the trick...to bad "The Dude" didn;t think of it...", Murphy boasted.

At this stage the plan is to run two cars for the entire year, but only one at Sandown and Bathurst, due to our budget not currently allowing for 2 more drivers. We will have a look around the mountain, and see if they're are still any Kangaroos keen on driving for us in the enduros.

So without any more delays, I present the 2006 Fusion Team Green Commodores and Transporter, and we will see you in Adelaide.

Note: Team Green and its owners reserve the right to use any over-the-top sarcasm, name calling, whinging and self-hatered in this and future releases.

2006 looks to be a much bigger and better year with the team changing from perkins motors to marty brant motors.

3D Liveries

Following a couple of requests, I've put together a quick package that should let you do 3D liveries. Its based on skins for GTR (the game - see the Virtual Racers forum for more info), but doesn't need the game to work. It won't do flash renders with transparent windows like the ones I've got (I had to get a friend to to that - you'd need some higher powered stuff like 3DS Max that I haven't got), but it will show your skin on a 3D model, something like this:

You will need:
- Photoshop. The templates are .psd files
- The 3D Model and Templates (20MB download)
- The Deep Exploration viewer.

Further instructions are in the templates zip. Enjoy

ROWDY MOTORSPORT SEASON LAUNCH

After a off season full of turmoil Rowdy Motorsport are confident of strong results in season 2006, and hopeful of challenging for the title. A low key launch on North Cronulla beach has seen the team based in the shire's heartland reveal some exiiting news and partnerships.
Taking over naming rights sponsor is the Northies Hotel. "The team has a long history with this famous establishment and the new deal will be benefficial to both parties as we start to recoup the mountains of money given over the bar over a 11 year period. We are sure that they will get a great return on the sponsorship, especially after a win when most will be returned that night" As part of this agreement the teams new supporter club will gather in the sports bar for every round for a few rounds of their own. On this Northies are very pleased "Sundays at Northies are always great but with the Rowdy group here the place will be really revved up"
Also coming on board is Billabong surfwear who will not only have prominant signage on the cars but will provide team uniforms and merchandise "we are hoping to break new ground in V8 merchandise with some exiting new products due before round 1.
Most importantly a strong 3 car assault was unveiled. Jason Bargwanna will lead the charge in the traditional #10 BF Falcon "I am a shire boy from way back and am proud to join this team and are looking to kick butt" he will be joined by exciting rookie James Courtney in the #5 BF falcon and Warren Luff will take the wheel of the #15 BA falcon.
The major announcement was of a new and ground breaking technical agreement with A1GP Team Lebanon. Negotiations were long and tense, occasionally boiling over but all parties are excited by the potential future together. Already they are working on a V8 supercar based on the F250 to counteract the long wheelbased VE Commodore and a Nissan Sylvia supercar should the japanese manufacturer join the championship.
Team Boss Hogg closed the launch with this warning "Everybody should be on notice that recent dramas have only made us stronger we are in a better position than ever to challenge for the title"

Title Sponsor: Northies Hotel
Associate: Billabong surfwear, Carlton Draught and Wishbone take away
#5 James Courtney BF Falcon
#10 Jason Bargwanna BF Falcon
#15 Warren Luff BA Falcon

If anybody wants to have a crack at a Livery feel free as I totally suck.
