I think its a shame there are going to be cars at LM who are not doing a season in a championship yet im sure 1 or 2 teams will miss out who have committed to a series..
I know Audi wont miss out but if they stated you had to be entered into a series to request an entry into LM. Why should they be given an entry if there not going to enter a series and someone like chamberlin who have commited to a Season + in the sport miss out... Teams used above are examples.. |

Despite all of these comments, will anybody really be bothered about which teams are in / out when we all get to the circuit? I always appreciate what is there, as opposed to rue what ain't, when I'm at Le Mans...even in 92.

It is a difficult situation. On one hand you want to guarantee quality, but on the other hand you need all the information to do this. So they have played safe. I guess leaving it as late as the first LMS race causes problems for the teams. They need to know if they are in the big one to start preparing and get sponsors on board.

I think the quality of the grid matters greatly. Especially when you consider how limited the grid size is. If they could let in more cars then the net could be cast out a bit further. As it stands now, each year a few quality entries are snubbed by the ACO's selection process.
Simple solution, do whatever it takes to expand the grid! |

I know that Maycom and Virgo Motorsport submitted entries, but I don't see them getting slots in 2006. Outside chance of a reserves list spot for either, but without much recent experience at LM or an ACO-based series their best bet would be 2007. Does anyone know if GPC submitted an entry? If they did, I could see them getting at least a reserve spot.

By the way, the list looks pretty good in comparison to last year's... although I don't know about those double Spykers. However, they raced at a lot of events in the past year and have steadily improved since Sebring of last year.

The TVR is a loss, of course. They won Spa; they are a worthy car. But I suspect that has to do with the cars not even being raced by LNT this year. The 360 isn't lost, it's replaced. |

Notice that Chamberlain has two entries, but IIRC they no longer own the B05/40, having upgraded to the B06/10.

I'm pretty sure that Chamberlain will "transfer" their entry in LMP2 to Team ASM Portugal who will run the ex-Chamberlain B05/40 and their real entry will be in LMP1 with the B06/10... thats the only way their LMP2 entry makes sense.

Maybe thats what Chamberlain did . How much would a Lola B05/40 cost with a guaranteed entry ?

How many reserves and who is likely?
If your first reserve it's almost certain you will get a call up, but I must confess most of the teams featured on the list are good and hopefully well financed so it may not go quite as far as the last few years. |

Besides that I think ACO likes it to have factory teams in their event. |
