Ugly Renault

The new Renault is so ugly. In my opinion it was the best looking car last year, and so far is the ugliest this year. It is highly evovled from last year though, especially the very small, aerodynamically efficient sidepods. I expect it to be very fast this year, just too bad that its hideous.

Doesn't matter if it looks uglier, as long as it does a faster laptime.

I think what makes the cars ugly are the bigger airboxes, I preferred last years' ones.

the front end looks fine, but the large engine cover combined with very small sidepods make the car look out of proportion and it is really quite ugly especially with the massive rear wing endplates. true it is not the prettiest car there is but it certainly isnt uglier than the williams or the mclaren. i have a feeling there are not going to be many good looking cars next year, but at least they will be different.

I agree that looks dont matter as long as its fast. Its just that last year it was so sleek and well proportioned. The Williams front nose looks awful, but I think they've discovered something that will prove to be quite fast.
I count on Ferrari to have a design that is both good looking and fast. As always.

You don't remember the Ferrari F310 of 1996 then

I think the yellow around the side pods makes the car look worse than the design actually is...

the nose looks very much cart/irl just raised and the sidepods are absolutely tiny!

It looks damn smooth, i dont think there is a place you could put a rock on the car where it wouldn't slide off

Mark Webber has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
I think you will find the end product is quite different to the one tested last week . The team has already said the car will be quite radical.

The test car was just that a test car

I still think the Williams was hit with the ugly stick. Last years Renault does look better too, imo. Anyway, as said, its the pace of the car that matters most!

How come nobady talks about how radical that rear wing is. Id say its up there with the FW26 nose but because it is at the back nobody notices.

It is a damn ugly car though

They had that rear wing in 2003 anyway. But maybe a bit different

Compared to the new Williams, it looks almost beautiful! But, as has been said, it will 'look' a lot better if it is fast!

Not convinced about that, Kev. It looks like someone didn't know where to stick all the bits - very cluttered and untidy. In fact it looks a bit pregnant from the angle on the posting. The Williams is OK from a side view - it's only the head on view of the nose which makes it ... er ..... distinctive!

The side view is OK on the Williams, but the front is really awful, the ugliest since the '95 McLaren. Then again, it least they look different!

Ah, but the 95 Mclaren was ugly from the side!

Yes, that's true. It was ugly from just about every angle, with the possible exception of from behind, which was a shame, because few of the other drivers got to see it from that angle!!

We should have known there'd be trouble when Mansell said 'if it gos as well as it looks we're in for a good season'!

As for the Renault, I just hope it's quick. It would be good to see their rise continue as I'd like to see someone other than the 'Big Three' challenge for (and actually win) the title.
