Thanks all for input so far! It makes sense for the race to be 1939 B E Trophy with the lack of evidence of silver cars and spectators. Dad was at Loughborough until the start of the war so it would have been possible for him to be there- probably in his tatty Brooklands Riley 'VC 6788'. Sadly I doubt that survived!
