In the bigger scheme of things, this is very good news. Hopefully his left lung can be saved and that he continues to improve.

Oh dear. That accident must have been much worse than it looked, when Tim could lose a lung. Hopefully he'll get well pretty soon.

I like the Japanese defend their position, because I think that the Japanese race style, and multi make(tyre/parts) is better than the DTM.

Yes, I agree... But hey, at least Super GT welcomed those DTM cars with open arms for next year. Not quite when those GT500 cars would compete in Europe.

Car Graphic magazine reported the budgets of GT300 class.
A certain team clarified the annual participation badgets (*vehicle price/lease fee is not contained).
*FIA-GT3 car: about 60 million yen
*JAF-GT300 car: about 100 million yen

Hmm, that doesn't look good for the GT300 cars... Although they have extreme aero bodywork, it's gonna hurt on the pocket when it was crashed.

no surprise, after all a prototype with a proper racing engine is always more expensive than a gt3 car. I'm sure that the various garaya and riley shiden will disappear soon if the presence of less restricted GT3 cars will grown.

I've got to agree with the sentiments of the GT300 runners here, they're being beaten out in their own class! It's not helpful that GT3 regs are a farce... I haven't watched any of the races so far this year, where are the GT300 cars deficits? Straight line speed or cornering (or both?)

Perhaps in the future more japanese brands should make GT3 cars. Nissan has already a GTR GT3. Toyota and Honda will continue with the GT 300 cars because they want to develop their hybrid technology. Subaru should have done a BRZ GT3 with the Boxter 2.5 turbo engine, which also would allow them to run with that car in another GT3 championships in the world.
I think that GT3 is a greatest second class (low cost, lots of variety and beatiful Cars)

The DTM cars will race in Super GT because the japánese have no trouble to accepting foreign technology in their series. Instead the Germans only want cars with parts made in Germany which I think is a very arrogant position.

If the JAF wants to continue the GT300 class... I think it's best to make a limit on the budget that is closer to GT3, or make it more cheaper that is comparable to Grand-Am's GT class.

Wow thats one secondhand SC430 big damage at both ends of the car (high speed spin?), assuming from the pic that the driver is ok?

I think they would have been better of having allowed GTE's or something with solid regs, it's gong to be so difficult to balance up GT300 and GT3's...

They had GTE (well, GT2) for years before switching to GT3, but not a lot of teams were interested in that due to the higher running costs.

To be fair DTM were due to have MG racing in the series before they went bust in '05 so they do accept foreigners. Though it is harsh if they don't let them compete...

The thing with the JAF GT300 machines I thought was their engine not being built for higher hp? Something about fuel consumption and/or reliability with increased restrictor size?

the various JAF-300 like garaya, lexus is350, shiden, mosler were using restricted full race engine: example the is350 uses a different version of the rvk8, the garaya uses the engine that was used in the 350z gt300, mosler MT900 of last 2 years was using a judd 3.4

Then whats wrong now? The IS doesn't compete, the Garaiya is there but they don't make the power the GT3s do. So whats the reason? Maybe Samurai San can help us out?

the is350 is still confirmed as an entry also in 2012 according to the site, btw if i remember well the car switched for the rvk8 only in 2011 (or 2010 too) because the car debuted with a 1UZ 4.4 (the one that currently uses the shinden). The gt300 cars never had really 300hp, these cars had always a bop between the various models... (i'm speaking about the past, not of the actual gt3 invasion) i think that the JAF-300 cars were running with a power around 400hp or something less, while the GT cars like murcielago RG1, gallardo RG3, 430 GTC etc.... something like 450hp; the same in GT500 when also GT1 cars like DBR9 and murcielago were running with restrictors comparable to the ones used in fia gt (600hp at least).
In my opinion is fair that JAF-300 prototypes are less powerfull than GT cars, because they have a turn speed that GT cars won't never have because of aero and the weight.
However i think that gt300 will solve soon these kind of problems because will become shortly a full gt3 competition, and cars like vermac, arta, shiden etc.... will disappear.

Oh please, I don't want those cars to disappear... If they did, it's gonna be another GT3 clone and competing against GT Asia (where they have GT3 cars).
