Speaking of which, Seb Ogier is now a free agent thanks to VW. Wander if Toyota will utilise him with their WRC effort.

Would be tremendous if they did. They would basically be paying to win the championship next year. the reality is that Ogier will win the championship no matter what he drives. He and Loeb are a cut (or four) above the rest

I dont see the deal for not-to. It will be extremely stupid (of Toyota) not to explore this path. the best thing is most drivers for other teams are fully signed, so there is very little reason for them to look at Seb

For the love of god they need to cange the Livery for that car. Just as horeendous as the one in the TS050

Interesting information on the hydrogen fc. Power vs weight is the biggest issue.

Onboard from Shanghai with WEC App, Audi didnt lift that much but Toyota lifted and coasted a lot, which generally indicates diesel advantage although they are running on different progarams, but the gap is less than second.

According to their press release, they made no attempts at a qualifying run. They even ran on used tires.

I think Toyota only figured out how to make their high downforce package work during or after Mexico. Now it seems they finally know how to get the whole package working

Looks like the car has a rather tight set-up window, and it's only now they're starting to have it nailed in.

I still don't think the Toyota HDF kit works on a true HDF track. Fuji, Shanghai are not really high downforce tracks more like medium downforce. Toyota knew they would be closer as a result. We've seen this before. They almost won Spa and Le Mans. but were nowhere at Nurburgring and COTA

Shanghai has a really big sector 2 which is nothing but high downforce. In the e-i article Vasselon says that they're a little short on braking energy recovery and downforce.

If you go back to 2013, Toyota looked like they were way off pace with their high downforce package. They weren't as quick at COTA, then they go and put it on pole at Fuji, nearly won Shanghai but for a tire issue and won Bahrain. I think they just make a LM centered car and use whatever little resources are left towards the high downforce package. But it seems like certain tracks are better for their car. This year at Mexico they were competitive in the race but not over one lap, same for COTA.

Toyota is doing a great job with half the budget of their VAG counterparties.

What's even better is that they allegedly had to rush the project due to the sudden plan in changing of engine, and yet ended up doing a better job than Audi.
Now it seems they've found enough reliability. It will be interesting at Bahrain to see who lasts the distance

It looks good for them considering, setting up a really good challenge for next year. I wonder if they are really going to change the engine or if that's for 2018?

I think things could change from here to Le Mans, because with Audi leaving, Porsche and Toyota are talking about a third cars from each team to have a bigger P1 grid.
