Sad for Anthony, was always an absolute monster in the Peugeot 908 and had a fantastic season in 2014 with Toyota though for some reason his performance became a bit lackluster in more recent years.
Also I remember a poster here had a photoshopped avatar of Alonso in Toyota WEC overalls, looks like your dream came true buddy |

Alonso is definitely not the fastest driver and will not be most reliable either. But Toyota should know by now that fastest car or fastest driver don't mean anything at Le mans.
Ps: new TS050 is pretty much the same as before but colour is little different at the front. (with Toyota emblem) |

An interview with Lopez today at Chile, he is there for the Formula E race. They ask him for the Toyota, and Lopez said they did a 36 hours test, including Fernando. The car is basically the same with some aerodynamic changes. They will test again.
The interview is in spanish https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_c...&v=NLXD8viu_Nc |

Sort of looks like the Le Mans car from last year, but sort of doesn't...
I can't tell if there's been any major or noticeable changes, though the headlight lenses look different. |

It's pretty bizarre if Toyota ends up being the slowest of all LMP cars - save maybe some of the lower end LMP2s - speed trap wise at the end of Mulsanne. I mean they already were losing quite a bit last year when you look at the event maximum speed charts but it could really show this year on TV pictures especially, particularly with most of the onboards surely fixed just on (Alonso's) Toyota
https://www.autosport.com/wec/news/1...-toyota-rivals "The laptime they target to do at Le Mans is very quick, and their top speed could be 360km/h (224mph) plus - whereas we're only going to be doing 340km/h (211mph). |

No need for anything radical, so no surprise to see it much the same

I agree with that. Nothing special is needed. I like the change after seeing it in motion on the video posted above. The white nose is pretty cool imo. It's not a big change but it does look different than last year's car.

Alonso said: "The Toyota is a very special machine. The combination of the four-wheel drive together with the drive of the hybrid system makes the acceleration like a rocket"
"You get to the curves and you feel the compression in the seat, you keep your eyes wide open. Every pilot wants to feel this at least once" https://es.motorsport.com/wec/news/a...e-1003186/amp/ |

Looks like Fred was right to go with them, no reason why he can't win Le Mans

I can't believe there's going to be 10 lmp1's! I wonder how the Toyota will fare against them all, especially at places like Le Mans and Spa with the high top speeds.

Yeah and we'll have guaranteed minimum of 10 LMP1s for 2019 Le Mans as well (unless someone pulls out for some reason) so both years should beat 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2017 in terms of numbers. Probably next year at this time we'll be able to add couple more too to the line-up.

Maybe that explains why he wasn't at the press conference
https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/13...so-toyota-role So realistically from what we have learned so far, what he will do this year in sportscars is Toyota private test 2 TBA (1-3 days ???) Toyota private Test 3 TBA (1-3 days ???) Spa 6h (3-4 days) ACO simulator at Paris (1 day) [run in conjunction with] LM Test Day (2 days) Le Mans (7 days) Silverstone 6h (3-4 days) Fuji 6h (3-4 days) Shanghai 6h (3-4 days) Last edited by Deleted; 10 Feb 2018 at 13:32. |
