I'd say the main issue regarding championship points could be as DRT suggests, what the AGP want regarding track time doesn't fit with what V8SC would want for a championship points paying event.
Would V8SC be happy with championship-points paying races being held on Friday?? Using Bernie as an excuse is a nice deflector for both the AGP and V8SC... It was even for championship points.... |

It is not a sledge. They just had set categories in the Content Management System. Been there, done that.

SVG will win a few races and be hard on the heals of Jamie, but over the season Jamie should finish head of Lowndes then SVG third of the Triple Eight cars. |

And what is going on with Todd's Datsun?
Luckily he is racing at Australia's highest profile race meeting and not some dusty two bit back water country speedway. The speedway officials would have parked have him for the weekend, told him to pack up, go home and sort the bloody thing out before bringing it back. |

Every bit of information i have read or seen suggest that is F1 or GPC that stop the round being for points. I dont know why Aust GT or Aust Carrera cup can compete maybe because they are not an international FIA category. |

After years of V8's demanding stuff for a points race (pit lane, longer races, equal billing) the current stand off is understandable.
The races will need to be time certain with non track activity buffer for global tv commitments just like the F1 sessions are. The V8's want a guarantee that they can run their races regardless of delays in the track availability, such as track reconstruction due to another support having issues. Easy to fix - just build buffer time into the schedule ala F1 sessions (30-45mins blank time prior to pit lane opening.) |

Woah so hang on. V8SC ran a championship round at an F1 event! Doesnt that kind of deflate the myth that Bernie is the cause of the non V8 champ races at Australian Grand Prix.
Another thought - what was so wrong with non championship v8 races at the Grand Prix. Reading a few posts here - people almost enjoyed them? |

Good races over the weekend.
It was always gonna be talked up and understandably so, the fight between Giz and Whincup for Red Bull top dog is underway. Should result in some interesting last lap lunges, Jamie always waits for the last lap giving his competitor little chance of a comeback move. Winterbottom's weekend would have been different this weekend if he hadn't been spun to the back of the pack. Hopefully they tried a few things with the track time they had. Glad to see he didn't end up with a damaged car playing down the back so bring on Tassie. |

Bernie is not the one to blame, that's true. It's the V8SC organization. They want longer races in order to make it a Championship Round, but FOM does not give more than 30 minute of racing. If the V8SC wouldn't want more racing time, the event will be a championship round already.
