Frosty11 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Future F1 Drivers

Who do you guys think will be on the Formula One grid in a few years?

I definitely hope to see Ocon, Rowland and Dennis.

Ocon is a cert isn't he? I don't think he's going to be a Verstappen-type overnight sensation, more a sensible GP2 progression over the next couple of years probably, but he's still so young and he kicked arse in F3 last season, including Max's on many occasions. Would imagine he's first name on the Lotus list for two or three season's time.

Vandoorne is a given, but there are loads of possibles in GP2, FR3.5 etc and it's interesting to see some of the really rated/backed youngsters like Marciello, Stroll, even Lynn, struggling slightly this season in their respective championships.

I'd love Dean Stoneman to get a chance. The way he's rebuilt his career is a credit to his character and talent.

stroll is inevitable.

leclerc will get there too. probably like bianchi in a quiet sort of way, without a heroic fanfare. he's a very special driver.

and i agree about ocon - he's an outrageous talent. if he drifts out of f1's grasp it'll be criminal, and a sure sign the world does not revolve around f1 any more.

Stroll is only inevitable if he learns to keep out of accidents. Not all of this year's have been his fault, but a lot have and he's been caught up in several others.

3. Esteban Ocon
4. Oliver Rowland
5. Louis Délétraz
6. Alex Lynn
7. Antonio Giovinazzi
8. Jake Dennis

He's been a bit of a liability this season.

I'd add Mathieu Vaxviere and Nyck De Vries to that list, both have been impressive, particularly Vaxviere.

I think Vandoorne and Leclerc are the 2 who Imo will make F1 and a good career from it. Right now I think Sirotkin stands a better chance than Ocon. He's been the only man to beat Vandoorne on pure pace in a GP2 feature race this season and is still 19.

From lower down the ladder, I like what I see in Dan Ticktum and Lando Norris, as well as Niko Kari and Sacha Fenestraz. But it's far too early in their careers to say that they WILL reach F1.

i can't see sirotkin getting in through merit. beating vandoorne once doesn't not make a f1 driver. if it did then there's a lot of f1 drivers who beat him in two litres

stroll won't be there through merit either, to be fair.

I can Bella. They both have plenty of time to improve and will probably be like Nasr - pay drivers with enough pace to get results. Although at the current rate Stroll will be a Maldonado figure

I remember being at Buckmore Park, when Rowland was running his first season in JICA, and their final was at the end of the day. He was running in a Zip kart back then - and everyone hung around to watch him race at the end, which is somewhat unheard of. Now he's got his head straight off-track plus he looks a lot more trim, he's a great prospect as he's always been ridiculously fast.

I definitely think that most of those will get into F1. I just hope that their talent does not go to waste.

Sadly it is more budget than talent that dictates who gets into an F1 car - for all but a select few - and probably always will be.

Niko Kari looks promising, he may be the next new Finnish F1 driver.

With Haas coming in...you know Rossi should be a name that stays in the funnell, maybe not 2016, but 2017 I see it.

I would say that Haas should probably be looking at some of the Indycar drivers before Rossi, they do far more actual racing in a year, and an Indycar is now not too far off an F1 in weight terms.

If Haas really wants to develop something interesting he should go and have a chat with Jessica Zemken. If you are fast and aggressive in a Sprint Car, you are unlikely to be intimidated by anything in F1!

Knowledge of the Circuits is too critical...Rossi Knows them...drivers in Indy and Sprint Car don't, but would definitly love to see a couple indy drivers have a go...just don't think its realistic.

I think I'd file Rossi under 'competent, experienced but never a potential GP winner', he'd be a sensible-ish choice but probably not an exciting one. I'd love to see an Indycar rising star like James Hinchcliffe, Josef Newgarden or even Sage Karam get a chance, or what about someone more established like RHR? Something really different, a major draw for the US based audience, and a really strong driver who could at least give it all a really good go. I know people point to Bourdais and Zanardi not working out in F1, but........

Still think Haas will sign two of Rossi, Vergne and Gutierrez.

It would seem to be almost certain that Pedro Piquet will make his way into Formula One in a few years; he's got a sponsor-friendly surname and an enviable record in Brazilian F3 - nineteen wins in 26 races is an achievement at any level.
