Ooh I was obviously not paying too much attention to the race. Thats a shame that he got hit. But yes we did seem to be a bit better at this race. Although we would have hoped for Thomas to be a bit closer to the front ... sooner rather than later!!

Go RSA!

I don't know if changing drivers, again, is the correct way of going about things...

I am not at all impressed with SA's A1 efforts, nor with the series itself so far.
If I was Tokyo Sexwale, the SA team owner, I would immediately replace Stephen Simpson as the driver and slot in either young Scheckter or try to so-opt Alan van der Merwe.
The team's performances have not been up to scratch at all, despite the lame post-race comments. Hell, we're supposed to be a motorsport nation with a tradition.
And as for the commentary on our national broadcaster - it's useless. The guys clearly don't know who's driving what car - it's no good saying "there goes Pakistan on the outside round Lebanon"- who are the drivers ?
Unless they start to improve that, the series will struggle ( at least for English speakers). Compared with the triumphant start of F1 masters - 85 000 happy fans at Kyalami, superb racing, and recognisable names - all compered by the inimitable Murray Walker, it looks dismal.

i tell u supabob, I atttended the 1st race at Brands and it was good for us coz we competed (in the feature race that is) and i thought we could only get better coz the team was really chuffed afterwards in the pits. Even so that TV coverage over here was talking about a silent threat coming from the SA team to watch out for.

BUT...

...since then it has plumetted and been drastically below par. Dont know that much about what's happening back home but its not working and we're losing an oppurtunity to be recognised worldwide.

Although u mention the appaling SA coverage, its just so much better being there. So if u have the oppurtunity to go down to the Durban race, TAKE IT! Don't be lazy, It's not that far from u!

U'll be amazed by the sound and speed of these cars. I had to go for a checkup on my ears, coz they were still buzzing the next day

Wow...GP masters must've been something special.

Cheers

Yep, has been very disappointing (to put it mildly). Don't really know what the problem is, our drivers are proven winners (at least Thomas is) but we just can't get the mix right.

There is a silver lining - It can only get better!

I would guess that it is Stephen; it seems that he has struck a good deal with the SA team. I doubt Scheckter would like to run again before it is a point scoring car and the deal with Alan fell through the floor...

Well now THAT'S more like it!!!! A well deserved, hard worked for third place by the ever smiling Mr. Simpson.

I new we would eventually get there, just glad it finally happened (ran out of excuses, and lost a bet earlier this year).

Well done SA, today I am proud to say I am a supporter!

Take that Supabob

so the Durban race is but a week away...took a walk around the track yesterday...looks great! and with the grandseating nearly sold out, and general admissions sales doing well...we can expect a bumper crowd come the weekend! Lets just hope that the weather is great like today!

And maybe our boys can spring some great success here at home!

I can't wait for the race! Whe will still have the momentum from the last race, and with the home crowd I believe Simpson (he is again driving I think) will be in top form.

Well then, not really the result that I wanted but I'll take it.

Stephen kept his nose clean and got the points, when other's ran into trouble. He drove a very mature race me thinks.

To bad about the trouble in the sprint race, without that we could've been on the podium again.

At least we got great exposure, everybody complimented our country and the efford that was put in by the Durban race organisers.

I agree, the circuit looked great, an enormous turnout from the locals and very well organised. Nice to see Thabo and the Skeik in the pitlane as well. Once again a great advert for South Africa.
