kmchow should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
ST's been around since 93.5-00. So which make has won the most races based on all known ST championships results? My guesses are either BMW which has probably been around longer, but Audi had their 7 teams racing in '96? And '96 was very successful??

1) BMW or Audi???
2)
3) Ford?
4) Nissan
5) Vauxhall

I'd have put Vauxhall/Opel/Chevrolet/Holden 2nd or 3rd.

Invader, you think Vauxhall/etc.. has actually won more races than even BMW or Audi? Crash Test--Volvo? Hmm, perhaps they are ranked 4th or 5th at best?

I'm not sure about OS but here are the cars of the ASTC winning drivers.
'93 BMW
'94 BMW
'95 BMW
'96 Audi
'97 BMW
'98 Audi
'99 BMW
A bit of a private party isn't it?

It would have to be BMW, going by the amount of wins they have had in the Australian and German championships. They also had success in the BTCC.

Just look at the ASTC last year. 96spec BMW beat the 98 Volvos and Audis.

Howdee doodee Troy. Hmm a student from Brisbane...sounds familiar...

Well you look at it, Volvo had a big chance to win the last two championships, but tripped over the line. But i guess in the greater scheme of things, the ASTC is a relative minor compared to those in Europe. Heck, the only Super Tourer to be made in this country was the Hyundais...and what a car they were!!

Mark, there were two other ST cars built in Australia. A pair of AE92 Corolla Secas built for Colin Bond and John Smith in 1993. Troy, last years ASTC winning BMW was actually a '97 car. The Volvo team ran a '97 car for the second driver and a '98 car for Richo.

Hmm, but didn't the holomogation run out on them and they couldn't be raced (from 1995 onwards)? I think Toca let the odd Corolla in to bump up the field.

Is Morris's car really a '97 car? Is that just 97 spec, because it was last raced in 1997 by the Diet Coke team. How many cars did they import during the season, because the provisional Bathurst winner went to McLean, so the two cars Morris has were the Brabham car and Baird's car.

In the early days of ST they let Group A Corollas in to make up the numbers, but they were 1600cc AE86 & AE92 Sprinters and Hatches. The cars I was refering to were AE92 Secas, they were built in 1993 as ST cars with 2-litre engines and 6 speed boxes.

From '94-'96 the BMW Aust works team ran year old ex-works cars from Europe. Then BMW Aust was so stung by losing the championship in '96 that they went all out in '97 and had BMW Germany build 2 brand new cars which were delivered to Morris and Brabham unraced at the start of the '97 season. Later in the year a third car was brought in, it was also built in '97 but it was raced in Europe before it came here.

Hey David, thanks for the very juicy/informative info. Nothing like a ****ed of manufacturer to get the racing blood going. The same thing (almost) occured in the NATCC. Honda lost to Dodge (DaimlerChrysler) in the '97 season so Honda supposedly had 2 additional brand new 98 spec cars built to deal with Dodge in '98. Sadly, the '98 season never materialized. Wow, could you have imagined what the year would have been like? Dodge versus Honda versus a sorted out BMW!! Sighhh...

Hey, crash test, please email me some pics of the resurrected Toyota Corolla if you have it. The Corolla you're talking about is the old h/b one sponsored by that oil company I recall?

Well i havent seen it on the track as yet, put the word going around is that he is going to it (or them) in sport sedans, which he is rumored to be sponsoring a class. Will post a pic when i take it. The last time i heard that Mal hit the track was some time ago (i think January) when he was testing the Carinas after Macau, and also Greg Waters Commodore Cup car.
