Plum Pudding!
Against my better judgement I've let KayBee talk me into doing the Plum Pudding meeting at Mallory on boxing Day!
It should be an interesting meeting, one of the few where cars & bikes race together (BRSCC & New Era are the organising clubs), & one I've been intending to go to for longer than I care to admit! Anybody else brave/foolhardy/bored with the 'family' Christmas (delete as required!) to do this meeting? |

Now that's an idea, must check if I'm working, could be a goood meeting, and not tooo far to drive up and back in a day. Who is chief marshal? I had better ask rather than just turn up.

You will find that most of the marshals are bike marshals last year on the post I was on they were all bike people and I was the only car marshal but they are a good bunch and you have a good laugh. There are even a few who decorate the post with christmas stuff (you know who you are)

I wish we could have more mixed meetings or at the very least mixed training sessions so that the two sides of the sport get to meet and see how the other half marshals. When I go marshalling I usually see the same First Aiders and Doctors so why not marshals? |

Combined meetings got tried at Knockhill and it was found to be a complete disaster. When cars where out all bike marshals where no where to be seen.It also happened the other way around.Every meeting was always running late because of the bikes.Thank god they have decided not to have them anymore.

as a crazy marshal, a real addict, i have done the Plum Pudding meeting twice, with a little help from Brandsman. Mind you that I live in Belgium and that driving to Mallory means 1050 k and being awake for 26 or more hours. But still it is very good fun and something you should really do as a (uk) marshal once in your live. They serve a good breakfast and you really can make some friends. do it and do it now, don't mind the cold weather, people go skiing, don't they.

When the cars come out most bike marshals are usualy a bit stand offish to start with as they are not used to having something so big coming towards them, and there magic hay wont stop a car. But they normaly dont do bad at all when something happens. As for the bikes taking to long to clear not at mallory it takes a lot longer to move the cars sometimes with bikes they just put them over the wall and get on with the next practice. The only trouble with bikes is there is more risk of injury so this may cause some delay but better to be safe than sorry.

What's the weather going to be like on Thursday?
Every time I look on Paul's site it (the weather) has changed!    I need a Mallory regular to advise me. Do I start off wearing my waterproofs or just bring them along? Taa! |
