Superleague Formula 2010: Assen

With practice starting tomorrow what are peoples' thoughts on the race results?

Bourdais must be a sure contender being the outright lap record holder at the circuit and after his Race 2 performance at Silverstone. Dolby has got to be a sure fire bet for tearing up the rule book and eating it though.

Parente looked good at Silverstone also and Perera being back could also be interesting. I would expect Max Wissel to be quick and challenging if he can keep it together.

It seems like a daft decision to run any other European single seater event on the Monaco GP weekend. I think the 2nd race actually clashes with the F1 race too.

it seems like a daft decision of the FIA to plan it's Monaco grand prix at a date and time another single seater series was scheduled to race elsewhere in Europe you mean... This date was set more than a year ago (originally for A1GP) so the FIA had ample opportunity to chose a different date

Monaco date I think is set by AC Monaco and has started on Asencion Day (Thursday)since 1948.

The FIA or FOM don't really care about clashing w/ other motorsports, may be except MotoGP.

Do not blame Superleague Formula with the clashing date. anyway who will get the pole today?

Beijing Guoan FC, the season 1 champions, have returned to the series with John Martin at the wheel, but it warranted only 1 small paragraph here.

I am disappointed because usually the series is very good at the PR and promotion side but they haven't made a big deal out of this at all. I wonder why.

The 1997 race edition was held on May 11. The 2000 edition was held on June 4. The 2010 edition date was changed in late October 2009.

I just noticed that Superleague Formula (Silverstone highlights I assume) is being shown in the UK on Bloomberg, for those without ESPN. 6pm tonight. As I think this is a free to air channel it's good news, as Eurosport have seemingly dropped the highlights. Only drawback is the news ticker at the bottom (like old Eurosport 2 all over again!). They're also showing FIA GT1 and GT3 which was already mentioned elsewhere.

I think it's a great move! Bloomberg is being watched by lots of business ppl during work & if they're promoting the championship, this is a great platform!
Actually I think this is their only good move on the marketing side, clearly they don't promote it enough for me. It's the best racing on the planet with the best sounding engine, period.

It's an odd place to find motor racing though!

Bizarrely there was no commentary from the bits I saw, just the sound of the engines.
