It’s been a decent season so far, with some close competition and a great Indy 500. Hope this continues

This is a really interesting article about the choices engine manufacturers are making while supplying the series. Tight supply lines right now make things even more difficult, but a third manufacturer could potentially open up the grid to even larger numbers.

An excellent article and thanks for posting. Very interesting what Chevrolet's IndyCar programme manager Rob Buckner had to say. A shame Honda weren’t ready to discuss similar questions that were put to Chevy. As the engine manufacturer that supplied more full-time entries and Indy 500 cars than Chevrolet this season, I would really like to know what they have to say. |

New Aeroscreen and new bodywork but no new chassis for 2024.

It’s nice he’s finally getting a runout as McLaren F1 test driver

He's being given the test to see if he is a potential candidate for a future McLaren seat, not as a McLaren F1 test driver. McLaren's test and simulator drivers are Will Stevens and Oliver Turvey. |

He is being given the seat to see if he would qualify as the young driver they would use in the required FP1 sessions with young drivers, nothing more than that.
Straight from Seidl's comments: “As you know, we have to do — two times this year — a free practice session with a young driver, and once we’ve tested all the candidates we want to give a chance in our TPC [testing of a previous car] car, we will make our mind up who will actually run these free practice sessions.” |

And take a car away, Foyt Racing parking the 11 due to sponsor payment delays. Reported as Toronto only but any chance they're coming back any time soon??
https://racer.com/2022/07/11/foyt-pa...ship-payments/ Weirdly for them, it's the only car in the running to get Winner's Circle money. Currently 21st of the 22 who get the million bucks, Kirkwood in the 14 is 25th and Kellet in the 4 is 27th (beyond the 26 full time cars, ouch) |

I don't understand why they don't switch one of the other drivers to the 11 car to keep it scoring points. Why park the car that has the best shot at remaining in the top 22? |

I've moved the CGR/Palou posts to the 2022/2023 Silly Season thread.

There are usually agreements to place X driver with X sponsorship and Y with Y. Moving a driver over could allow the sponsor an out because the team did not follow the contract. Whether the sponsor did or not first isn't material, that's good for Foyt in court if needed but then taking the car to another driver unless stated in the contract is a breach on the teams part.

Racer reporting identical schedule in 2023 (minor date changes here and there), possibility of adding Milwaukee and a Mexico date in 2024 or beyond.
https://racer.com/2022/07/29/next-in...-works-for-24/ Typical Racer/Pruett article, long on rumour, nothing concrete. Interesting ideas though. |

The latest rumors are that Texas Motor Speedway:
1. Will be redeveloped into something more favorable for NASCAR — and almost certainly unusable by IndyCar — possibly after next year. 2. The spring NASCAR race will move forward to late April. Also TMS won’t host the NASCAR All-Star race. It’s uncertain what this means for a potential IndyCar race in 2023. Source David Land video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sWE2GI1a6mU&t=604s |

That's not surprising. I don't feel Texas cares enough about Indycar, for the time being. But will NASCAR be any better? Either way I think it will be off the Indycar calendar next year

I don't know if anyone has seen this but RM Sotheby’s will be auctioning cars and memorabilia, owned by the late Carl Haas of Newman/Haas fame.

Glad they're removing Texas tbh. God forbid any of us have any joy in this world. Lets just keep smashing peoples enjoyment of things until we are all robots subscribing to one world view.
Nah seriously, whats the point anymore? The good thing about Indycar was the mixture of street courses, road courses and ovals. The ovals have been reduced in the name of safety and now they're being reduced even further because "Nascar". |
