Knockhill Formula Renault race predictions
Round 10 of the FRenault UK Championship takes place this weekend, so it's time to try and predict the top five result.
Usual points apply - 2 points for putting a driver in the right place, 1 point for putting them in the wrong place in the top 5, a bonus point for guessing the pole time to within a tenth of a second, and the tie-break is how many will be within a second in qualifying My prediction: 1) Green 2) Watts 3) Sharp 4) Garcia 5) Long Pole time: 49.874 20 within a second bella's prediction: 1) Green 2) Watts 3) Long 4) Hamilton 5) Rossiter Pole time: 51.282 23 within a second. |

I agree with littleman - wet qualifying and race. Those who havent been before in the wet in qualifying will be seriously disadvantaged, but you have to think that Hamilton and Lloyd (both of them always been good in the wet) may get a great chance here.
So: Watts Lloyd Hamilton Sharp Davison Pole 56.12 |

I'm backing James Murphy for a good result at last. I think his best result so far is 9th at Thruxton, so a top 6 would be great for him.
Come on Murph! |

With the closest prediction thread in the history of the Formula Renault predictions, 5 people tied for the lead after the shortened round 10. There WOULD have been a clear winner but, by changing his prediction for the second time in a row, Mr Jinxx went from having 5 points and winning, to getting only 2 points, and coming last. Congratulations, Mr Jinxx, on another award!
Jonny Apex was the only entrant, apart from Mr Jinxx, whose top five prediction didn't net 4 points but by correcting the pole time to within 0.008 seconds, he gains a bonus point to take 4 points overall. He also correctly predicted that 22 cars would be within a second in qualifying which means that, although not scoring any extra points, he is declared the winner. Scores: Jonny Apex 4* Paul Rayner/bella/pb btcc/littleman/kbudden 4 Mr Jinxx 2 * - includes bonus point |

He's not so smart - only 30th in the Fantasy Formula Renault league table - unlike Paul Rayner who seems to be doing to FFR what Fortec and Danny Watts are doing to the real thing! - i.e. leading it by a country mile!!
ps: can anyone check if they can see www.fortecmotorsport.com/frnews.htm and that it contains the report for Knockhill and let me know - either on or off list - thanks guys and gals Last edited by kbudden; 12 Aug 2002 at 23:04. |

and I'm hurt, albeit only slightly, by Paul's apparent gleeful remarks Oh well, I'll stick to my guns at Brands Hatch. There was no merit in forecasting anything at Knockhill, I say !! Alex said that on the straight, it was like someone putting white tape on your visor ... you could see nothing whatsoever, and no blame attached to anyone who came off ... was a complete lottery whether you were on the grass or the tarmac.

As for Pat Long, he stalled on the grid as they were setting off for the green flag lap for the second attempt to start the race (after Lloyd stalled on the first one). After everyone had passed him he made his way through the field to retake his original start position on the green flag lap, gaining himself a 10-second penalty. |
