Barry Hay has left the building. Lucas Dumbrell churns through his staff, surely not a coincidence where they find themselves in the field. Few seem to last more than 12 months there. Seems after 6 years as in the series, Lucas can't accept that as one of the smallest teams in the field that is its natural place in the pecking order.

Lots of allegations of monies owing to various suppliers, contractors, and employees in amongst the comments on the various social medium. Not to mention talk of strained relationships...

I'd be very surprised if they're on the grid in their current guise next season.

The image raises a couple of questions...

...it looks nice enough with 'The Candyman' and the family crest on board, and a passing resemblance to a JPS car.. Presumably the LDM cars would have looked like this too...

The promotional models around that car brighten the day as well..

If the branding is legal (as in complies with any & all legislations around the advertising of tobacco products) then what was the issue with branding a pair of Supercars in a similar way? I am presuming the branding on the Audi is legal here, you would assume that the organisers of the meeting would have that squared away...

Mr Beynon has tested an Audi, two different Lamborghinis and reportedly a McLaren too, all with the view of driving *something* in AusGT next year.

Opportunity lost for Supercar?

There's no company name that I can see on that car GTR - can't imagine that some stripes and a family crest would be a big issue (unless the family motto was something like "buy smokes from us" of course).

That's a very different situation to the reported VASA livery / sponsorship. Maybe he's learned his lesson from the VASA situation and knows that he can't advertise his company in that way so now he doesn't?

Other than that, maybe the lack of broadcast coverage of the PI event compared to a VASA event makes a difference legally.

Whether or not it is true, the Freechoice branding is the sticking point - if the primary function of the promotion is to sell cigarettes, then it is banned.

Family crest isn't promoting Freechoice.

Well the Candyman isn't down at Sandown tonight, judging by the fireworks display from his home tonight. Another "Freechoice" party I gather.
