GTO Racing should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
The Bill Sadler's creations

This american built over 30 cars from 1954 to 1960. Most of them were sports cars. The first one was the 1955' MkI to use a Triump TR2 engine and the last one the 1959' MkV to use a mid-engine design V8.
Those machines competed Scarabs, Ol'Yallers and Listers notably in USAC/SCCA races.

I'm looking for historical and full technical information as well as pics about the Sadler specials. Who ran them ? When, where...?

Bill Sadler

I grew up just outside of St.Catharines Ont. and can remember the early Sadler cars. Bill's family owned a well-known Auto Electric shop in the downtown area. I can remember Bill driving at Harewood and saw him at Watkins Glen racing against the best modified cars of the day.

Although Bill was best known for his cars, he was also an excellent race driver. Never met him personally in those early years but did meet him for the first time at the Monterey Historics in 05. I did know 2 of his mechanic/fabricator people fairly well.

Bill holds a Masters degree from MIT and has worked for years in the high tech aerospace world in the US and I believe he is still the design head for the Arizona Instrument Co. and presently lives on the Oregon coast.

I have the Sports Cars Illustrated Mar 59 issue which contains many photos and tech drawings of the Sadler MK 111. I will gladly mail you copies of same is you are interested.

Not sure if he built 30 cars in total but he did construct some 12 front engined formula junior cars also.

Bill Sadler

I believe Bill Sadler also attended the Brighton speed trials in the late fifties and set fast time in his first V-8 special.

Try the VARAC site and their Festivals section for some current pictures. Also google Comstock Racing. The MKV cars were driven by several people. I believe Jack Boxstrom of RM Auctions has the Formula Ferocious (sic).
