Well, Mr Plato must be absolutely seething that the rear wheel drive cars roared away at the start, and filled all the top spots in the results. But hold on, Mr Plato has just won the 1st race, followed by two other front wheel drive cars.

Why, oh why can't Mr Plato keep his "racing" to the track. His constant whinging, no matter how reasonable it may sound to the infrequent watcher, is really now getting worn a bit thin and in reality does neither him or the BTCC any favours. The rules are what they are, and he knows them. He's a big girl's blouse now and if he doesn't like them, he can either stop competing in the BTCC or join a team that has a rear wheel drive car.

Funny how people only ever mention Plato when there are plenty of other FWD drivers making the same complaint...

It's because he's the only one the media give airtime to.

No Wilmot or Palmer for the rest of day with engine failures. Welch are a joke team, really ruining their previous reputation by running this dog of an engine.

they should swallow their pride and do the sensible thing, get the TOCA unit back in

they simply don't have the budget of WSR, Dynamics etc who can develop their own engines

I'm sure I read that Welch were switching to one of the engine suppliers used by the other teams - did I make that up? Or are they still trying to make their Evo X engine work (seems likely, now)? As a Welch fan, it is a little disappointing that this year is shaping up more or less the same as 2014.

They had reasonable pace when they first joined and then were unlucky with Dan getting hurt. But last season and start of this cannot be good for their reputation, what must they're sponsors think with the cars always in the garage. Wish they'd stop being stubborn or whatever it is they doing, look at Stockton last year, struggled with a terrible engine switched to the Swindon unit and the car was flying.

I know they get a lot of support and sympathy but Welch Motorsport have slipped into the joker team. I want them to sort the problems our as much as anyone else but they have far more problems than every other team put together. The Welch engines are just awful...

Edit: Hadn't read Craner's comments when I posted. Good to see someone shares my opinion on the worst team on the grid.

Sounds like Wilmot is going fur Toca engine, can't blame him he's spent a lot of money to be there! Fair play for having the balls to suggest a switch

Morgan has to have the place switched with Jordan, etc.

He never learns. He's really fast but has the worst race craft of all of the frontrunners. His win wasn't a real win and every time he's at the front he does something stupid.

It's very frustrating watching him.

Matt Neal and Turks though, wow...

Aren't the soft tyres meant to be faster? Because they just seem to be woeful in every respect...

Me too.

The racing is good enough to not need them

Race one was good. Race two was better, and race three was fantastic. Wow! Who said this season was going to be less interesting? How those guys managed to miss Aron Smith and Josh Cook flying across the track approaching the old hairpin, I'll never know. Slightly spoiled at the end with yellow flags at the last few corners, but still. Excellent racing.

More of this, please. Also - agreed re: soft tyres. Not required.

Wait until there's a hot race. Has the soft compound changed a lot from last year?

He's very bitter about our most successful driver. I tend to filter it out.

I totally agree with Plato and that's not something I ever do! It might just be a step too far.

Great racing, we remain to see if any action is taken in race 3, but the place changing so much is why I love the series so much and the fact we have Cook, Moffat and Depper up there shows the series strength in depth.

Slightly concerned about BMW this weekend, only Collard's never say die attitude got them good points. Great also to have a new star already in Cook, exceeded all expectations already, although bad misjudgement by Smith. And a bit naughty by Neal there. And Paul O'Neill's commentary in Ginettas, hilarious.

Well done to Colin too, hopefully he can get on top of the cold tyre learning in FWD. At least he has broken his duck

The racing though is a consequence of the soft tyres I think. What an impeccable race. Quality of driving so high and as such a fan of Depper I was glad to see that result.

That has to be the best race weekend I've ever seen. So many fantastic races, all clean overtakes, fantastic racing everywhere, and race 3 had everything! What a race!!!! Neal will probably keep the win - it takes a lot to punish a winner for an on-track incident.

But how did AJ and Morgan not get switched??? Bizarre, thanks stewards for a complete lack of consistency.

But this is a minor complaint. Ridiculously fun racing. Awesome stuff.
