Dessert Dumbrell To Retire?? Yes! Maybe! No! (Now Confirmed)

Whispers from the powder room at Winton suggested that Mr Dumbrell was not likely to keep driving the Bottle O car next season & beyond. The story goes that the driver's business activities were encroaching upon the driving, and he felt that justice wasnt being done to both vocations

Speedcafe may have had the same sources... Story Here

Ironically he is probably having his best season, but not a bad job to land at 27.

I believe he already mentioned recently that he felt he only had another 2-3 years left in him anyways, so no surprise really.

Yes. Dumbrell indicated that he might not drive beyond this year, last year.

I think he plans to be more involved with the day to day running of some of his dad's business concerns.

When he signed for RNR it was announced as a 3 year deal, and Paul indicated that he would call it quits then. But as we have seen before things can change.

TSR has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Is this the chance for Moff Jnr to step up, if PD retires

why on earth would FPR take on JAMES with his current and previous form not changing in the slightest?

Clearly he isn't a level 1 driver yet.... maybe never?

he still rags the car, over drives the tyre, and generally hasn't changed his driving style to suit the idiosyncrasy of the V8 catagory!!!

The burning question is who is going to join Frosty with both PD and Richo on the way out the door....

Holdsworth is contracted until the end of 2012 IIRC, only re-signed this year.

To drive at this level, IMHO, you've got to be 100% focused on driving and everything about that, so I think it's a matter of time before he hangs up the helmet.

Can't blame him really for moving on to business adventures.

I lol'd. Lrn2sarcasm.

If you read my post as 'Jamie is upset at PD and wished he had never raced' the you have serious issues. It was clearly 'if PD wasn't around, things would be different for JW', as highlighted by the comment he was disappointed how things turned out.

How about giving some of the other guys knocking on the door another chance at a full time drive a go ?

Drivers such as Warren Luff, Dean Canto, Luke Youlden etc.

They are only part time enduro drivers at present with some not even driving anything else at all, but every time they run on the Friday test days they seem to do a good job. I think Luffy has topped the 'enduro driver's' times sheets most often but all are posting times well up the grid making the Gaunt's, Reindler's & Ricciardello's etc look a bit ordinary. Dont get me wrong, I'm not knocking the Gaunt's, Reindler's & Ricciardello's, they earned the drives and deserve the chance to keep them but if there are empty seats coming onto the market, the aforementioned drivers are driving faster with less seat time, on the same tracks at the same time. Plus they know what it is like to have had and lost a race seat (for whatever reason) - they may do a better job given a 2nd chance...

According to today's AA, it seems Mr Dumbrell has chosen not to continue in a full time V8Supercar seat beyond the end of 2010. While there are likely to be contracts and commercial arrangements to sort out, it seems Mr Dumbrell shall retire at the Homebush round of the series.

Logical question is... who might replace him in #55?
