Try the-fastlane.co.uk/racingcircuits, then click on Proposed Circuits on the right of screen, click on Townsville and there's a proposed street circuit, but it may not be the one intended for the V8s next year. I just had to say.....

I think that the last layout that I saw in the Townsville Bulletin a month or so ago was different to that, and it has perhaps changed a little again since.
Also, at no more than 2.5km overall distance, there's no need for chicanes anywhere; none of the straights are long enough to justify it. I'm curious to see how they plan to avoid the rail crossings that the map implies will be involved. |

That's not very long, even if it is a street circuit.
In response to Razor's post with the picture saying "No Hotlinking", was he telling me off or something??? |

The full track layout is available on the sooper dooper site.
So who is going? Given almost all Grandstands have been sold to NQlders before sale to the general public, unless you know someone who lives in Townsville , I reckon there are going to be more built before the event. |

Who are they using for marshalls for the event? Bringing people up from down south?

Be like most events like this these days, they'll just give lots of inexperienced volunteers a t-shirt and a quick lesson in how it works.
Well it works for Formula One so why cant it work for Aussie Bernie's series especially considering how much they've dumbed down the flag rules these days. |

I think that's what Woolley was getting at, but was too polite to say?

Maybe because final contracts have not been signed off for Sandown and Homebush.

ie that stupid little grand finale thing that cocho was planning at homebush might not pan out after all so he's keeping the date for sandown on hold in case they have to move the whole shebang down there in december. i didnt use one single capital letter in that whole sentence...

It would be very interesting if one could confirm the Homebush contract not being signed and the reasons behind this?

Better late than never
The Rudd Government has announced it's $10M contribution to the Townsville 400.
Pity they could not have found a little more to build a permanent venue for racing and driver training in North Queensland. |
