Which Sauber caused the "secondary" crash?
I was just watching the GP again and noticed that the "secondary" crash was caused by a Sauber re-entering the circuit and hitting Fissi's Jordan. Which one was it?

It was Heidfeld. He had taken to the grass as he was worried about becoming involved in the Ralf-Rubens incident, but unfortunately ended up causing an accident himself!!
Wet grass = no stopping power = running into a yellow Jordan = pile-up! But unlike Ralf or Rubens, Nick admitted that he was at fault. That's a rare occurence nowadays. |

One of the BAR's - I think Villeneuve, followed Nick across the grass, and from what I could see, it was JV who wiped the side of Button's car off.

Nick Heidfeld was the offender. Not sure why he was on the grass. Maybe trying to avoid the crash, but he probably would have been better to stay on the track.

Heidfeld was the one who caused a two car accident to turn into a 9 car shunt. He took to the grass for no apparent Reason, the accident had already happened and both Ralf and Barrichelo were already off the circuit - seems Heidfeld just carried too much speed into the corner, and when he saw the mess ahead of him, he took to the grass, lost control and took everyone out.
Silly mistake but he admitted it - unlike Barrichelo. Last edited by Mania; 5 Mar 2002 at 23:33. |

Unlike Ralf you mean!
Button was unlucky as he was effectively a sandwich filling with Massa(?) on his outside, someone on the inside and Nick Heidfeld T boning the three of them. Would have made for an interesting onboard camers! |
