in the 2nd VLN-race there will be one more two kremer-porsche.
after a long break they start last season with two gentleman-driven cup-porsche. in this year there will start not with a K5 but with one cup-porsche and one 997 GT3 in a kremer-version. the drivers by now wolfgang kaufmann, dr. edgar althoff and dieter schornstein (71), who drove the le mans 24h 7 times in the 80ies mostly with the 956. and they are still quick and so also a candidate for the top40-qualifying and in the distance of a 24h-race maybe top 10. a nice clip of the first vln-race: http://youtu.be/-GZjpFW_HtA?hd=1 |

Very close opening 5 laps - top 8 split by 10 seconds
Something deliciously wrong watching a McLaren get baulked by a Renault Clio. |

Race finishing under a red flag again (was last lap anyway)- not sure why yet
Really good race, looked for ages that it was going the way of BMW but Vitafone had some kind of terminal power issue & Schubert #19 needed an extra stop. Some nasty looking crashes during the race (including a car upside down at the carosel + huge shunt at pit in), but think everyone was ok. McLarens were looking solid, in the end the #13 was delayed with crash damage but Dorr got a top 10. Anyone remember Manthey throwing a queeny strop saying he was leaving VLN because the BOP made things impossible for his team... guess who took the win today? |

Nick must be secretly loving all these actual motor racing circuits he's visiting this year, after circulating so many generic tilke asphaltdromes during the past decade!

I'm sure there are 10 people for each 'Nick' that'd rather the F1 career and those Tilke tracks. F1 is a business, that's why you get those Tilke tracks.

VLN Race 3 deserves a bit of a mention. Entry list released has plenty of top-end talent in it, including 2x Young Driver AMR V12 GT3s, complete with Turner and Mucke at the wheel of one.
Haribo RT Callaway Corvette GT3 confirmed, with Tommy Milner and Jan Magnussen. Great lineup, but news from Denmark suggests that the lineup for the N24 will be those two plus Richard Westbrook, if I understand correctly. Klaus Graf joins Rowe Mercedes with Jager and Seyffarth, Patrick Long joings Lieb and Krumbach. Oh, and Nick Heidfeld is driving a McLaren with Gembella. The Aston Zagato will be there and all 5 BMWs, 6 Mercedes and 7 Audis expected in the N24 come out to play, but no Falken Porsche and still no sign of a green and yellow Manthey works effort, so I guess that Stuttgart and Oleg are sticking to their guns on that one. |
