Appears that the information may have been leaked to James Phelps (at least partially) before the announcement.

Assuming that all the stories overnight are true (Nissan and Kelly Racing) it seems that this has not been a great way to start a relationship with a new manufacturer as the impact planned for the announcement could well be lost.

Wonder whether the leak came from KR, VESA or Nissan?
More likely one of the other teams, who had to be consulted/informed as shareholders in V8SA that there was a major announcement by their company's executive, that a move in manufacturers was coming...

From my knowledge Gibsons lived in the other half of the factory, which then became PWR and prepared the Nissan's, Ford's and Holdens out of there. GRM are on the other side of the wall next door. Gibsons also did some work at the old Nissan factory in Clayton, now occupied by various other business, but most noteably by the Walkinshaw group. They say there's still some bits of Nissan engines logde in the walls of the dyno chambers.....

So @rickkelly do you get a Pulsar as a new company car? Or do you get rid of your X5 and get a Patrol?

Do you get the feeling the other teams are now just trying to take the sting out of the tail from the announcement?

They are tweeting/leaking info all over the shop.

does this then tie in with the fact Kelly's aren't releasing their livery until Clipsal? And was the recent picture posted by Todd of a JD branded Commodore to turn the attention elsewhere?

Nissan = Infiniti

Perhaps an opening for Webber on his retirement Redbull and Infiniti association, though Webber has stated before he has no desire to run V8SC

Wouldn't you love to see Nizmo logos across the windscreen banner of all 4 Kelly cars this year

I dont know the 'new' rules re COTF & whether you can just adapt any body shell to suit or whether the donor car still needs to follow some of the basic criteria like comparitive engine size, front engined - rear drive configuration etc. Hence I suggested the M56 because it has 4 doors & a V8 as standard. Also, rumour has it Nissan want to relaunch the Infinite brand here in Australia...

If the spec's of the donor car are irrelevant however, are we seeing the start of a shift toward a look alike Brit Touring car series with a whole bunch of V8 powered (for now) Cruze's, Mondeo's & other mid sized silhoutte cars on the horizon ???

More than a rumour - was officially announced nearly a year ago, staff have been announced as they've been appointed and launch is in Q3 I believe this year.

No confirmation in this morning's conference of which model but all the discussions are talking about Nissan and Nismo and that the team will be called Nisan Motorsport. Could be that the rumours of the car being branded Infiniti MAY be wide of the mark.

If I remember rightly, Nissan was the (or at least part of the) reason V8Supercars/Touring cars were formed.. The current car companies couldn't build a car to beat the Nissan so they fored there own boy club and banned everyone else from joining.. No? Too soon?

Bring back the GTR I say!

The GT500 and GT1 race versions have V8 engines...

Or do V8Supercars require 4 doors?

Kelly Racing will develop the 2013 Nissan V8 Supercar in a secret off-site facility away from the main team operations in 2012, it was revealed in the press conference on Thursday.
So what's the bet it is at Larry's workshop around the corner?

If that was the case, Garth would have just SMS’d the message.
But it was placed on Twitter for the world to see, and interpret how they wish.

Fast forward to 2015...........Nissan winning everything, fans losing interest and the famous booing at Bathurst repeated. Would be funny to see history repeating itself.
