I'm down there with a "PRESS" armband so that'll be fun. We're penned into certain places if we're not with the big mags but regardless it'll be my first Revival for 4 years.
Very much looking forward to it. Although I need a hat. |

There should be a roll call of 10 tenthers competing so we know who to be backing... Zeferally in his Cortina GT Roger Wills in his Corvette who else? |

Off topic I know, but I had a real laugh at the Nurburgring a few weeks back. As we all know, the meeting is called the AvD Aldtimers Grand Prix and a few nameless but well aged English competitors decided it should be renamed the Alzheimer's Grand Prix - brilliant, especially knowing who concocted the title!

Good idea on the roll call Simon. Should we organise a meet time/location to support en masse?

Unfortunately the bus from the brewery is full so I will have to drive down.
That means I cant test drive too much of the "falling down water" but I have no control over "er indoors" when I let her off the chain ! |

I was there today as a first time visitor to the Festival. Usually I'm involved in another meeting somewhere else in the UK.
It was a totally amazing day. Now I know - don't go for just one day, there's far too much to see! Martin Stretton looked likely to win the Fordwater Trophy until mechanical woes intervened and handed the win to David Leslie's Marcos. The two had been in a fierce battle, though, and it was by no means a lucky win. Jean Marc Gounon drove a storm in the Plymouth Barracuda to win Part 1 of the St. Mary's Trophy. Finally Ray Bellm won the Whitsun Trophy in his GT40, but only after a dramatic battle with Frank Sytner's Lola T70 Spyder when Sytner unexpectedly spun off when in the lead on the last lap. For someone who's not used to seeing much overtaking, it was a revelation. |

I was there yesterday (Saturday) as well - fantastic day and some great racing. Sytner was very unlucky to spin and "gift" the race to Bellm after such a fantastic battle between them and Whale in the McLaren. Glad to see Julian Bronson was ok after his big off. I cant help feeling that Sytner's misfortune was in some way divine retribution after his highly ambitious move on Jac Nelleman in the first race although there he came off worse.
Good to see Mr Wills enjoying himself looking well set for some fun today and Zef hopefully sort the trouble out for todays race. The saloons were hectic as always with a Jaguar dropping its oil on Lavant resulting in most of the field ending in the kitty litter! Ollie Bryant - no slouch himself - must be favourite to win today after Gounon's very impressive win. Gounon's car control on the oil at Lavant was impressive especially as Ollie told me the car doesnt handle it sort of floats! During the DFV demo I was next to Rupert Keegan and I am not certain but I think there could have been a tear in his eye as his old car came round (either that or smoke from his fag got in it!). He reckoned that his sponsors reflected his lifestyle at the time - Penthouse, Durex and Rizla's! Great day and the air displays were something else - as usual Goodwood hits the nail smack on the head, looking forward to next year already |

I have a complaint! I would love to get hold of the results of today's races, but cannot find them anywhere.
The Festival website is useless. News to them means something that was announced in July! MST are the official timekeepers, but their website has nothing available, just a check back later message. Is this deliberate policy by Goodwood? If so, it seems strange. |
