40's track challenge
A quick challenge here.
Turn this track into a modern racing venue, utilising the left hand side of the pic, retaining T1 and 2 as they are. You are to include a 0.75 mile dirt track in the infield. You can assume the picture is 2 miles across. The track mustn't have a theoretical lap time of more than 100 seconds, unless there are viewing areas from which a large part of track can be seen ie the Brands Indy circuit type thing. You can't use the twisty bit on the right. (it's actually based on part of the Ring; Aremburg - Ardenauer Forst) |

They changed that part of Mexico City cos it was cheaper. Too much money to keep original corner and have enough run off.

The CART cars ought to still run on it though. I don't see gravel traps at Lausitz, do you? A concrete wall round the outside would do.

Here's my attempt at Pirenzo's challange. My track consists of three seperate configurations, the GP track, the short track, and the inner track, sort of like Magny Cours. I have also included the dirt oval Pirenzo wanted. The way I planned it, the oval was going to be part dirt, part pavement so the main track can used during races on the main track, and can be covered in dirt for the oval races much like they do for indoor motorcross events. The three main tracks run counterclockwise, as does the dirt oval. If you notice this will make the cars run north to south on the oval, and south to north for the road circuits.

Well, the one for my challenge is pretty sweet. Even if it breaks the rules a little. Great track |

And the lakeside one is merely OK IMO. I think it's the figure-8 thing going on there that doesn't work quite right. |

Really? I thought you meant just the top part-the part I used wasn't "twisty", so I regarded it as fair game. I guess, I'll change it a little then... Last edited by RacerGuy2; 4 Aug 2003 at 00:29. |

The whole right hand bit from the double hairpin in the lower right, right the way up to the top right is unusable, but you can use that bit in the dip i guess. |

OK, I'm going to change both tracks, the first so it is within the rules, and the second because it sort of, well, sucks. |

It's kind of a bit rushed so I could join in the festivities. I suppose a faster track = a longer track in this one! By rights p should be the next to post in here - he's probably contributed most out of all of us |

How can i reply to that without triggering page 100?
Oh, i can't complain, but i would have thought it should be mac, he started the thread. Maybe we'll get him to make the 2500th reply? I didn't even start posting here until page 30 or something. Anyway, here we go, page 100 here we come. |
