It's for motorcycles. The equivalent of what exists at Buddh (turn 4 and turn 10) and Shanghai (turn 6).

Really now.
Never would've guessed from the likes of Road Atlanta |

I think, for the bikes to actually consider it, they'd have to rip up some of the existing asphalt run-out and replace it with gravel. Besides, I thought Goiania was trying to get MotoGP back, not Interlagos.

Don't think there's much asphalt around turn 10 (for now...). If you meant the whole circuit, then maybe, but it's not like the bikes ditch asphaltdromes. Yes they have many unspoiled circuits like Laguna and Phillip Island, but for example Mosport modifications came after bikers moaned for them, and WSBK runs on such parking lots such as Aragon and Qatar. Circuits like Assen and Misano which are mostly used by bikes are full of asphalt etc.
Anyway, could be just some local bike series that want to use this Interlagos one, just like AMA does at RA etc Last edited by Deleted; 6 Nov 2014 at 21:56. |

I've heard nothing about the changes at Mosport having anything to do with bikes.
I was referring to the entire circuit at Interlagos, with regards to someone like MotoGP deciding to run there. A local bike series wouldn't have the financial pull to get any concessions at a place like Interlagos. As far as I can tell, it's just Turn 1 at Qatar that has the asphalt, and it's less extensive than you would expect for F1. Aragon has the asphalt to get its Grade 1T certification from the FIA. I would suspect that Misano has added the asphalt for that same reason. I'm not as certain about Assen, but it wouldn't surprise me in the least if the FIA had a hand in that as well. In addition, I know Algarve has a Grade 1T, which I'm sure explains quite a lot of the paved run-off there. It's also funny how those larger segments of paved run-off showed up at Barber around the time that it was granted a Grade 1T rating, so that the now stillborn US F1 team could have somewhere to test domestically. At least Gene Haas can now take advantage of that circuit's status though. |

I don't think single additional entry for one corner costs too much, especially since Interlagos is doing track & surface renovations anyway, might just as well take it out of the way.
Qatar isn't asphaltized in the same crazy amounts as the other Middle Eastern tracks which are compeletely covered by it, but there is enough in any case in corners As for Mosport, I said that as I remember on Mosport's FB page someone referring to the decision being made for the bikes at the time, but now that I tried to check on it I couldn't really find anything. Maybe I imagined it. There was some track day motorcycling death in 2011 though, if that has any relevance. |

^I think the brief for that one was to combine corners from tracks that are on the WEC calendar.

Why bother, it's only going to be slagged off? They probably thought it was just a bit of fun.
I like it, but i like just a bit of fun. It would fit perfectly in the ten-tenths my track forum: http://tentenths.com/forum/forumdisp...sprune=-1&f=59 |

They didn't include the Degner corner and Casino Triangle from Suzuka, even though the circuit wasn't part of WEC.

Are they neutering the track with those re-pavements, despite leaving those bumps behind?

I think keeping patched type racing surface rather than a full tarmac repave of the old runways is what gives it the Sebring character.

A few more fences, a few new guardrails, a few bumpy bits to be repaved......
AND NO MORE SPEED LIMITS AT THE RING!!!!! http://www.endurance-info.com/en/gre...-nordschleife/ Great news. Goodbye lap record... |

Is this a good or a bad thing regarding the Nordschliefe's safety upgrades and re-pavement?
Will these upgrades affected in regards to breaking track records? |

Generally repaving a section of track and smoothing out the bumps is a recipe for faster speeds. And with the leaps in GT3 speeds, I can see the 8:00 barrier being demolished on the N24 circuit configuration next year.

Well the cars went plenty fast this year even with the speed limits. Just removing those would have seen a sub 8:10 from at least the trio of leading Z4s.
But getting down to 8:00 might start to put fabled 6:11 lap time in danger. If I had to guess an 8:00 lap time would mean 6:20 around the Ring without going absolutely flat-out? |

I'll be happy if they don't start to add chicanes everywhere

To be frank, I'd prefer chicanes to speed limits. They weren't as obtrusive as I'd feared, but I still find the concept just wrong.

As the person who DOES have to deal directly with the aftermath of incidents like that, be it plain stupidity, or just tragedy, I'd rather deal with an "obtrusive" speed limit than somone beinbg killed in rather violent fashion. While specating, or participating is quite dangerous, and there is only so much we can do to stop any incident, there is a time when the capabilities of a car have exceeded the limits of safe translation through, a part of, or entirety of a course... |
