The Great Race lived up to its moniker. Ebbed & flowed all day and a great result at the end.
Erebus has had criticism (including from me) for the early years but the team has been chipping away under Barry Ryan's leadership and it's really good to see this result for a group of people who have been through quite a lot of pain and soul-searching. Good upon them and great to see Davey, the PRA reject, come out on top.

Who would have predicted that both title protagonists would lose engines at the biggest race of the year.

I think prodrive made some terrible calls today, particularly with the Monster car, very conservative strategy that put them back in the pack and ultimately amongst the crap with Mostert and co.

And even though Stanaway isn't ready for the main game according to some, I'd have been tempted to stick him in for the last stint. So too, Jacobsen.

Congrats to Dave Reynolds, Luke Youlden and and all at Erebus, a more popular win there has never been.

Mr Jacobson drove out of his skin. He wasn't afraid of the wheelspin, he was bringing it on and just thumping the Mega car as hard as he could. Impressive, especially compared to his'17 Super2 campaign..

Another standout of the day for me was SdS... she was banging doors early in with the likes of Lowndes and co, and not being conservative and sitting back and waiting. If the engine was better, who knows what would happen

The crash at the end... Todd Kelly had not long passed her, and her laptimes were the car's best of the race at that time, chasing Mr Kelly down.

A shame to get a DNF after being top 15 almost allday.

Sadly the car doesn't look to badly hurt as to require replacing with a 2017 model

It's said that the front end, and engine specs are of similar vintage.

But that's multi-car team politics for you.

The busted wiper motor cost them time on track, and in the pits to repair it. No idea how Mr Hazelwood kept it on track wity no wiper, by pretty much just following the car in front until it was repaired.

I thought they were on for a top 10 on strategy, and when the wiper was fixed, Mr Hazelwood was running as quick as the leaders at that time.. the car owner was a little more tentative behind the wheel than that...

Agree with that, surely all doubts must be removed after his performances at Sandown and here today. Mighty impressive.

BJR should certainly have stuck Heimgartner back in to replace Slade at their last stop, he looked to be in real trouble and appeared to have suffered badly when he got cooked at the GC a couple of years back. The duty-of-care brigade will have the keyboards tapping.
