2016 Round 8: 6h of Shanghai
So it's time for the Audi farewell tour consisting of a whole of two races - shanghai and bahrain, marking the second last race with three manufacturers for a while. Probably farewell for ELMS too, with its holiday adventure gentlemen squad mixup. At the same time it's possible for some more championships to be decided (P1, GTE-Pro AFAICT).

Looks like an issue with the #2 Porsche. Only 3 laps in practice 1.

Yeah definitely Porsche look good but their press release says that they did a qualifying simulation. That's what explains the huge gap.

Looking forward to this as instead of most of WEC races it's on during the middle of the day here in Oz as will Bahrain be I believe. I'm going to enjoy the last two races featuring the Audis and our Mak Webbah.
Hoping for a good tight race between the big three but will be very interested in GT Pro as its all up for grabs there. |

Practice 3 going on now, 20 minutes in and it's Audi #2 1:44.5, Toyota #6 1:44.8 and Porsche #2 1:44.9! Hopefully it's that close in the race.

Q-GTE starts with altogether 15 minutes of delay due to track barrier repairs. It's up at :40 to be confirmed whether it'll be :45.
Add'it: ETA is :50, tbc at :45... Add'it2: And at :50, we go ahead. Last edited by Ephaeton; 5 Nov 2016 at 05:50. |

Tv coverage of qualifying is just awful. I haven't got a clue of what is going on. And neither do Hindy & GG. Just get rid of the average thing already.

I find it quite cute how Ford can find 2 seconds between practice and qualifying while Ferrari get their boost decreased.

Live timing isn't helping. They're showing the lead to the guys who only have 1 driver as an average.

Ford was nowhere until recently. Those huge straights at Fuji and Shanghai probably help. Remember the car was near as fast as lmp2's at Spa and Le Mans.
Pole for the #1 Porshce by .060 over the #5 Toyota. Then the #8 Audi only .148 behind. Very close. |

ACO put themselves into stupid position. One day Ferrari appear to be full with that BoP nonsense and they step away. Italians just build a real GTE, making a high stake onto aerodynamics (more aero grip and higher drag) - and now their GT3 version struggles in the hands of amateurs who have no abilities to make time in turns. Ferrari put all their money onto another Le Mans win with that. And what? Ford comes with a prototype and hit them with some ridiculous help from the French side. That Ford could be a very interesting machinery, but today it looks like all their "anniversary" win is one of the biggest fakes in the history of autosport. All the applause go to ACO who managed to do all the possible wrong moves and even more of them.
