We can only go on what we know. There are 12 drivers curently displayed on the official website but two of those are yet to announce which team they are joining.

Additionally there are teams that are yet to name drivers such as Jamun who are fielding a reduced squad of 2 cars this season. They have been out testing with a driver at Brands & Snetterton this week.

Allowing for last minute deals I'd guess anything between 12 & 15 cars at the first round at Brands which is fast approaching 29-30th March but naturally it would be better if it were more.

Doesn't look like we are going to have a great year ahead of us, though I guess if we have 13-15 drivers then that is progress on last year.

The bigger problem I think is the lack of quality in the field so far. The only real prospects I see are Scott, Rosso and Brabham but the field lacks a lot of depth again. I'm sure Kruger will be quick but so he should be with his level of experience. Also it will be interesting to see how Collard steps up from karts.

Press release from MSA issued today.

As you all know the MSA launched a tender process to bid for the contract for a new single seater championship under FIA F4 regulations. The tender was extended several times and eventually closed on 31.12.13.

The tender lodged by Ford has been selected to go forward to the negotiation stage, and nothing more will be published about this until this phase is over.

Great news regarding the FIA f4 regulations.

The championship starts next weekend at Brands Hatch. Seems like a lifetime we have waited, and cannot wait to watch the action unfurl.

Also like to point out, that there are 15 confirmed Cars due to be competing at the season opener. A quick check on the BRDC F4 championship website suggests that there are only 17 confirmed drivers as of yet. Obviously this can and will most likely change (as there are still 35 days left till their season begins). Probably too early to look so far into statistics, but does that mean the the Formula Ford grid is increasing whilst the F4 grid decreases?

The final championship results remain provisional pending an appeal to British motor sport’s governing body, the MSA, by the Falcon Motorsport team following the incident in Round 29 involving Kruger and Scott which led to Scott’s retirement.

ITV4 showed a replay of the incident. Harrison Scott moved up the inside or Jayde Kruger entering Druids, Kruger didn't leave much room, Scott carried on anyway, and there was contact. Kruger carried on and won.

If the courts deem Kruger guilty, Scott will win the title, if not, Kruger keeps it. All a bit unnecessary, but that's motorsport sometimes. A needless incident, but a racing one from what I saw.
