Jack65 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Gardening leave is common place in any industry for people with critical knowledge. Nobody likes paying it as it is dead money, but from a corporate governance standpoint, it's a necessity.

Triple 8 have done it in the past when Burgess and Grant McPherson signed on with HRT / WAU. Same applied with David Cauchi, but because Triple 8 elected not to put him in the garden but have him serve out his notice, he was able to move to Grove without spending time in the garden, although it took a while for Triple 8 to concede.

A more relevant comparison is the senior FIA technical person who left and joined Aston Martin last year.
No gardening leave.Of course the stakes in F1 are many many times higher than Supercars yet there have never been gardening leave provisions for FIA employees.

Perhaps the FIA technical person only had certain information and the rest of the paddock didn't feel it would give Aston Martin a leg up. Certainly periods of gardening leave for engineers moving between F1 teams are common. Either way the other Supercar teams aren't happy, and for good reason.

Are you sure about that? I would find that surprising.

I'm with you. I know of at least 1 former FIA employee who had a gardening leave provision (the former F1 Race Director) which he honoured before taking up roles at home here in Australia.

Seem to recall another person leaving FIA & going to a team (technical role) and having gardening leave 3 or 4 years ago but drawing a mental blank on who it was.
