This is the last post on the wec test schedule http://tentenths.com/forum/showpost....&postcount=628. Looks like Toyota and Porsche added a test from that list.

Audi also tested at Monza. How it was the rule? Some tests public and some private?

Maybe? Or they just decided to do so after that list from Marcel was posted. You're right though, we know the recent test at Aragon with Toyota and Audi was private.

The way the factory P1 teams have been falling over each other we could actually have an old school endurance run at LM this year, especially without the insurance of a third car. A clean run could be worth a lot.

I think these details are about right.

Silverstone:
#1 Porsche Crashed out.
#2 Porsche Finished 2nd on the road but promoted to 1st when the #7 Audi was disqualified. Also hit a slower car and suffered a puncture.
#5 Toyota Retired. Suffered a rear puncture and the flailing tyre tore the rear bodywork to pieces.
#6 Toyota Finished 3rd on the road, but promoted to 2nd.
#7 Audi Won on the road but was disqualified for a technical infringement.
#8 Audi Retired with hybrid system failure.

Spa:
#1 Porsche Had two punctures and then required a gearbox change which took an hour and 40 minutes.
#2 Porsche Finished 2nd but ran for 5 of the 6 hours without a functioning hybrid system, so was running at approx half of full power.
#5 Toyota Engine failure. The car was classified as a finisher after running last lap on electric power only (very slowly).
#6 Toyota Retired after 4 hours with electronics problems.
#7 Audi Finished 5th but had overheating issues, a loose floor and bodywork damage after collisions with other cars while fighting back up through the field.
#8 Audi Won the race without any particular drama.

Nope. Long pitstop for repairs, lost about 20 laps, but finished the race (16th overall, 170 laps, 24 laps off the winner). Timing says pitstop for repairs after the puncture (on lap 102) was 41:07.005.

DSC reporting that Ricky Taylor will join Larbre replacing Paulo Ruberti for several races after Le Mans.

Hoping this is a precursor to a GTPRO effort by Larbre in WEC next year.

I doubt Indy will host a WEC race unless it builds garages....that seems to be a requirement for any WEC round.

I'll be damned....I guess they have a separate pit lane they use with those....I was watching the 500 yesterday and it was just the usual "open" concept. I guess the garages are in the background and not visible. My bad!

Yeah they have some stands and people (+ the "US pits") in front of them during 500.

I don't like Indy GP, but anything is better than the blandness that is COTA. At least it would say "USA" by first look. Also it doesn't have full carpark qualities of the Tilkedromes (ironically, being area enclosed by concrete)

Also, Indy is much more financially solvent than COTA is at the moment, and also better managed.

Have you been to COTA? I have each year, as well as a group of friends who have gone each time. I really don't understand the hate for COTA, it is a great facility and one that is perhaps much better in person. I think the main issue keeping people away is the oppressive heat and fact that it is during football season. Change the date and I'm sure it will be a more attractive event, there is nothing wrong however with the facility, it serves sports car racing just fine.

That said, I would much prefer WEC at Road Atlanta, Sebring, Road America, or especially Laguna Seca.

Yes...

I do remember though, when Grand-Am first raced as support on the NASCAR Brickyard weekend, and how SPEED hyped up the race being the most historical of historical debut... then you had drivers saying how much they had wanted to race on this legendary circuit ever since they were boys... same cringe-worthyness would probably happen here

It looks like identical clone to every other modern F1 track, with all of it's sanitized glory, and I find it about as interesting to observe as paint to dry. And it's in questionable market place IMO.

If you like it, fine, it's your viewpoint

Anyway, since all the other tracks (except Montreal) for some reason "cannot" be considered in NA anymore because of ACO/FIA's self-imposed "requirements", that only leaves Indy as alternative, and I'd much rather have that than COTA, even if it's not amazing either.

A big complaint on COTA was the lack of advertising for the WEC event. That was mentioned in the racer articles comments section as well.

Didn't they delegate some ACO bloke to solely focus on improving the US market for WEC? Guess he hasn't earned them fruit baskets.

Indy would be preferable to CotA, imo.

Even though if you somehow managed to get 50,000 people to show up on raceday(you wouldn't), the place would look deserted.

The track layout is boring. COTA may copy other tracks, but at least it's better than Indy's current 'roval'. I'd prefer them go to Road America.
