New Porsche 911 Rally car

I see on the Autosport site that Porsche have developed the GT3 for rallying in Belgium. Sounds pretty good to me.

For a while I have thought that the current WRC regs were getting a bit stale. How about a WRC "formula" that allows 2 seat, 2 door cars in - perhaps Porsche could be persuaded to build a 2 litre turbo 4WD 911 WRC whilst we might also see an Audi TT etc in the mix.

For a "F2" category, having rules that encouraged the development of the MGF, Toyota MR2 or Porsche Boxster (modern equivelants of the Stratos?) or the BMW Z4 and Mazda RX8 (Austin Healey) might also make things a bit more interesting than at the moment.

"F3" could remain the preserve of the front wheel drive 1600cc cars.

A Mazda RX8 would be a nice sight, it would have to have the widebody Renisis touring car kit tho from jappy

This is the new "GT3 Road Challenge". Belgian tuner Future World prepares the cars (Porsche 996 GT3RS, N-GT class Belgian Rally Championship). The GT3 car will make it's debut (driven by experienced rally and circuit driver Marc Duez) in the Omloop van Vlaanderen (Tour de Flanders) rally next week. This project is supported by the Belgian Porsche importer (and Porsche Motorsport).

Car details:
3.6L boxer-engine, 381 bhp, 385 Nm at 5000 rpm
1350 kg
6 speed gearbox
Front: McPherson, rear: Multilink
SACHS shockabsorbers
18 inch rims with Michelin tyres

The costs (Around 200,000€) will be a bit higher then a top Group N car but cheaper then Super 1600. It's an arive-and-drive championship so competers don't need a service team.

Would be great to see these GT's on the roads, reminds me on the Mille Miglia or Targa Florio.

Isn't the Peugeot 307 WRC a 2 seat, 2 door?

307 Technicaly isnt its 3 door, you can gain access to the car via the boot.
