Apparently not all cars left looking the same as they do in the pictures posted in this thread.

This is one I took showing his path off the track and he then obviously threw the car sideways to wipe of speed but sadly the sand trap didnt slow him down to much (it does show he did actually go through the gravel trap , there was some rumour that he missed it completely) there are several pictures out there of the impacted car (on the net) but this is a quick one that I snapped from behind the wall. |

very nasty injuries indeed that Marcus has suffered.
I wish him the very best in his recovery and hope the team can fix the car and get it and Marcus himself back on track asap. |

Makes you wonder about if there is a need for tyre barriers in front of the concrete wall. It's obviously a high impact zone by the fact that they put a sand trap in front of it, and judging by the crash, it wasn't a glancing blow.
QR used to have a similar deal at turns three and six there there were concrete walls just on the far side of sand traps that could, and were hit by cars... lessons were learned and those walls now have tyres protecting them. |

I saw the footage on sports tonight after the accident that evening and I found it quite hard to watch especially as you could hear Marcus's cries of pain whilst he was still in the car. Not very nice at all. Reminds you of how dangerous motorsport can be.
Best of luck to him, hope he makes a full and speedy recovery. On ST they said the car was destroyed, is it actually repairable, if anyone knows?? |

which would explain why it took an hour to remove the car from the track and why theer was a cover over the car when they removed it and dragged it back to pits and put it back on their transporter

The Lukas rescue gear was used, but I am not sure if it was on the car or the roll cage.

Well the car hit the wall pretty hard but by the look of it the front seems pretty straight but then again you don't know until you take it apart. The cage around the seat has been cut away and it was a big job to get it into the truck. Marcus is in good sprits and can't wait to get going again.

Does anyone have the footage from the Ten news or sports tonight about the crash? Any help would be great!
