Put rain tyres on! If not...put the Indycar on please Sky! We'll watch the NASCAR later when it happens.
I want to go to bed before sleepy time. |

I understand not running the speedways in the rain, although Martinsville could be fun in the rain, but to not have the road course cars set up for rain is ridiculous. Esp since everybody makes a special car just for the road courses, or at least they used to before the CoT.

Mike Helton said yesterday that the rain tires are only for the Nationwide cars, for marketing. It's ridiculous.

Were the rain tires to make sure the Nationwide guys didn't mess with the Cup race if it had to be postponed, or because they had developed tires for the old chassis and never tested a tire with the CoT? Has to be better for their ratings to have the race actually on the weekend than postpone when there's an alternative. It may not be what NASCAR wants, road racers would probably charge to the front with wet conditions, but I'm sure ESPN would rather have a Sunday race rating than Monday.

For the record, the only two cars that really went off last year at Montréal, were Max Papis and Jacques Villenueve.

Damn, have stayed away from internet/news all day to watch the replay of the race only to find out it has been rained out

What a joke. No wet tyres? NASCAR ought to be ashamed...

In all fairness I don't think there would have been much of a race had the option of using rain tires been there in the first place. We would most likely have been treated to a slow, cautious parade.

Great PR work by the tyre company too - "Our tyres can't be used on wet road surfaces." |

As for Goodyear, their wet racing tires have been used successfully in the Nationwide Series at Montreal, so it's more the CoT that's the issue - not the tires. |

Well, it's on now. Monday night racing. May get used to this.
Also got to bed a midnight thankfully not having to wait for a delayed NASCAR race followed by the Indycar too. All in all, not too bad a result. |

Caution #1 - Debris.
First round of pitstops underway. Ambrose stayed out. Edit - I have some doubts about the strategy selected by Ambrose's crew chief. Hopefully he'll be able to pull away in that clean air. Assuming he can grab the lead on the restart, that is. |

Caution #2 - Crash between #12 Stremme, #29 Harvick and #24 Jeff Gordon coming out of the bus stop chicane. #99 Edwards went into the grass and grazed the tire wall in avoidance.

Caution #3 - #88 Earnhardt Jr. lost his brakes and went head on into the tire wall. Took the #43 Sorensen car off the track with him.

Seems the commentators completely missed that Ambrose was on pitroad with the other cars earlier since they keep talking about how he needs to come to pitroad.
