Barrichello To Use The F1-2000 For Rest Of Season

Rubens Barrichello will complete the rest of the 2002 season with the F1-2000 (Ferrari’s 2000 spec F1 car) it was revealed this morning in a surprise statement from the Italian team.

According to Ferrari President di Montezemolo, reliability is the key and yesterday in the Brazilian Grand Prix the ‘bullet proof’ reliability of the F2001 was shot down in flames with Rubens experiencing a full hydraulic shut down, forcing him and the F2001 out of the race.

Would the F1-2000 even fit this years specifications and design rules?

(I'm not for an instant taking this seriously, but would be interesting to know....)

There is the small point of the F1-2000 being a step behind the car Sauber is using this year. I doubt even Ferrari in their careful consideration of team logistics would inflict the possibility of being regularly trounced by Massa on Rubens.
