I remember in the past there have always been a few winter series in late fall in the UK but I've always wondered since these teams do so much testing or go to Spain, why they haven't just done a winter series down that way?

Formula E will be an autumn-summer series, spanning 2014-2015. Punta del Este is December 13, 2014, Buenos Aires is January 10, 2015, and Los Angeles is February 14, 2015. A bit of a ways away, though.
