Well the honda engine is beginning to actually look better, so perhaps the honda option might have been better, but to be honest sauber are looking a perminate training team there only to keep the numbers up

Can someone explain to me *exactly* what the relationship between Marcus Ericsson and Longbow Finance is? Does Ericsson have a guaranteed seat (since his chances of promotion seem limited)? Surely has implications for Sauber becoming a Ferrari junior team if one of their seats has to be occupied by a journeyman.

other than a lot of speculation im not sure a definitive connection has ever been made publicly....well not that i have ever read anyways.

Three wins in four years of GP2. Fine, flashes of speed, but I don't see the heather combusting. He's not going to graduate to a major team.

It's not quite that simple. It seems that there are a number of very wealthy individuals and successful corporations behind Longbow, and one of those investors happens to be Finn Rausing, one of the 3 grandchildren that inherited Tetra Pak from their father. He, like his siblings, has long lived in the UK, and his passion appears to be the gee-gees.

Another of the Longbow backers is the billionaire owner of the H & M clothing retailer.

You could argue that's the way of modern motorsports. There are plenty of drivers who are good enough for an F1 career who don't have a seat right now because there are pay drivers. I don't think it's fair to single Stroll out like that - this would simply be another way of buying a drive.

And the problem is there are only 20 seats in F1, so even more drivers are missing out on the chance they deserve. Hopefully more teams in the future can be added

At least in the early 90's more up and coming drivers got a chance to drive F1 even if 2/3 of the field were buckets of bolts cobbled together!

Sauber Alfa-Romeo........sounds very credible to me.....easy money and I dare say an injection of technical resources will do Sauber no harm.......just re-badge the existing Ferrari engine.

But lets home it doesnt rust to pieces before the race starts......sorry, couldnt resist that one!

Or possibly less leverage. One of their main sponsors is now backing a team they supply - so will expect more from them maybe?
Ferrari are now in a position where they have lost Santander backing, and supply a team who will be backed by one of their remaining sponsors. The pressure is on them to deliver, because otherwise FIAT Chrysler could take their backing elsewhere and take a punt on a different engine supplier for the next set of regs (or even build their own)?

It's all about Fiat, you do know Ferrari and Alfa Romeo are both owned by Fiat, right? (don't mean it in a patronizing manner, btw)
