Thought they'd be closer but you can arrive at a new team and have a misstep, not get on with people, go on to lose motivation...et al

Raikkonen was quite the peddler with Lotus remember. You don't just fall off the cliff and Raikkonen towards the end of this season, upped his game. So maybe we'll see something of him next year. A Vettel Raikkonen clash might provide interest - and an off-chance for a surprise.
The Vettel/Raikkonen dynamic is interesting because both seem to struggle and maybe even lose motivation when a car doesn't suit their style. With Vettel, it's driving without a blown diffuser which hurts. With Raikkonen, it's the brake-by-wire.

Maybe we'll have a fascinating duel with a competitive inter-team sulk-off

Not very likely, imagine what Alonso or Lewis would've done in that car.

No, definitely meant whinging.

One reason MS's team mates had little success over the years was the cars were very specifically set up for him and his team mates found it very difficult to drive anywhere near the limits of those cars. Every driver likes a car to specifically suit him, try driving your road car with the seat and steering wheel in the wrong place, while not the same it shows that being comfortable with the car is important and having confidence in what it will do when it might possible lead to pain and suffering is fairly important. The heroes on forums would not get that of course as they have never raced or most of them haven't. Criticism from a keyboard is easy, try getting out there and having a go.

Based on this season and Kimi's seasons against Massa we can conclude Alonso would've had poles and more wins than Kimi. He got slaughtered by Alonso, there's no denying that. The only excuses i hear is the car didn't suit him mantra thats made out of thin air and holds no substantial argument to prove it to be fact. Great drivers are adaptable.

The Lotus E20 and E21 were great F1 cars IMO. Like cars that in the hands of Alonso or Hamilton would have won and won. They were very quick over a single lap, very kind on tyres and very reliable, seeing both Kimi and Grosjean getting regular podiums you've gotta suspect they would have done much better in the hands of someone like Hamilton. No disrespect to either of those two though.

Makes it all the more baffling that the E22 was so rancid. Yes the Renault engine stank the place out, but it won three races in the Red Bull. I do suspect that the 2014 Red Bull was probably an even better car than the Mercedes, but still. Enstone are usually pretty reliable but the 2014 car sucked on every level.

A world champion in the making, what do you race and how long before you reach F1?

Raikkonen, Alonso and Hambo are comparable drivers if you arrange them together at their peak. I would just give the edge to the latter two of the trio but not by too much. Massa was developing into a tasty proposition before he was clocked on the head in Hungary - Kimi's last year with Ferrari before his sabbatical.

As for next year with Vettel, Kimi has incumbents advantage - it'll be a good battle. I've no faith in the management to deliver much to these drivers but internal chaos of the uniquely Italian style though.

Not often that you see the stable and sensible team members on the track and the volatile prima donnas in the pits and back at the factory!
