Falcadore mentioned a 250 6 pot Anglia, i'm not sure if this was a common combo back then, but one raced in SS at Wanneroo back in the SS heydays.

There was also a mid engined partial space framed MK1 Capri V8 run by John Glasson in those days, I never saw a V8 Cortina SS at Wanneroo, this is circa 77 onwards though. Just wondered if pre Capri, Glasson had the Corty V8?

Was Edmonsons Alfa the precursor to the succesful line of Ricciardello Alfetta GTV's? IIRC, Basil was running a Charger SS driven by Brian Smith in the late 70's which he apparently bought from the eastern states, I believe he still has the original racing wheels, he sold the car though.

There was also the Palazzo XA Falcon coupe SS from this era, Paul Palazzo was good friends with Basil Ricciardello.
They retired it in the mid 80's and it just sat there in the workshop under covers, finally sold to a young bloke who repainted it red, but only ran it a few times.

I vaguely recall a dark brown car entered by GoGear, possibly pre Rotomotion Abarth and for some reason a V8 Marina fits the bill? I could be dreaming though

From the mid 80's, I also recall a black full space frame XD SS, I don't think it every raced but it certainly had all the right ingredients. Anyone have any further info on XD sports sedans?

Just to follow up on this old post...sorry only just joined 10 tenths!

Haven't read all the posts following on from this but..

Dick Ward's Arbath is running again in historics in original (or close to) livery. The car originally ran the Abarth engine in the early 70s at Wanneroo, before being converted to Corolla by John Hagarty in 1978. Later, Kim Ledger fitted the rotary engine. It was virtually written off in 1984 just when Ward was debuting his first RX7, however after 20 years it has now been restored and is being raced again. The car was always housed at Go Gear during this time, never at Ledgers.

The Ford 6cyl engined Anglia was driven in the mid 70s by Bruce Peacock. The car was white and blue number 85. It was later sold to Jow Riccardo who campaigned it in the late 70s. History of the car beyond that is unknown.

The V8 Cortina was driven by Glen Nichol. He was a good friend of Rod Housego who was racing Formula cars at the time, having previously raced a Series Production Charger. The Cortina races in 1975 and appeared only a few times with Nicol driving it.

Glasson ran a white and blue Rambler V8 Engined Ford Escort in the mid 1970s. This car was written off in a multi car accident and was then replaced by a yellow Ford Capri. Glasson still runs a V8 Toyota Supra at Wanneroo and along with Gordon Mitchell is the only driver still racing (albeit only occasionally!) from the Caversham days.

I am pretty sure Brian Smith's Charger was the ex Diffen car. It was eventually sold to Craig Marsland who ran it for a time. Marsland also owned the ex McCormack/Edmonson Charger but did not run it extensively.

Paul Palazzo (and Paul Kelly) ran an XR Falcon in the early to mid 70s, then built the XC Falcon. They had retired the car by the early 80s.

Gordon Mitchell ran his V8 Morris Marina in Go Gear colours for a time in the mid 70s. Many cars carried Go Gear sponsorship during this era, including John Hurney's ex Seldon Welsor Clubman and the Jones EH Holden.

I sort of remember the XD with the space frame chassis, but can't remember who ran it. Sorry!

Hope this helps!
