Just judging from Conti Challenge vs Euro GT4, Grand Am is doing a pretty good job at keeping the rules creep at a reasonable level.
Though the rules certainly creeped a great deal this year.

Have to agree about the Camaro, what size is the racer vs the street car? And is the Mustang a Prep 2 chassis or built off the GT-R concept?

The camaro is the same size as the road car, maybe not weight wise, but the road car has 20 inch wheels. The race car has 18's.

Can they please get rid of the effin Nascrap placement of the decals on the front fenders.

Just another reason why the France (family) Formula will fail.

built according to the "Next generation prep 2"-rules according to the team's PR... since the new rules aren't publically available so far, we'll have to wait and see. Also prep 2 doesn't necessarily have to be silhouette but can also be a unibody modified beyond the limits of prep 1. And Ford was always oppossed to them running a mere silhouette, which they did for a few years.

Since Ford is on board now with engineering support, something might have changed there.

While I am glad to see this program for the cars it sounds like the owners are a couple of blow hards.
Wilton saying "We are changing road racing forever" really? With a GT3 car, really???
Marchino says "GRAND-AM represents the top level of road racing in the U.S. and in the world". How about the ACO, FIA, and various other national series?
Not very endearing and shows a disregard for the history and others in the sport.

The article states that Marchino is a California based attorney. That probably says it all.

I guess people aren't allowed to be enthused about what they are going to uptake. Singing praise for a series you are about to enter isn't anything new. So what if his information is opinionated, some could say the direct opposite and be laughed at as well. And above all, it doesn't seem like the guy making the statements is a racer. Still good news nonetheless.

Nice to see Lamborghini in Grand Am though, a bit more variety for GT next year...

GARRA's entrylists are always a work in progress.... they post them when the first entry comes in and modify them with each new one.

Why do they test at homestead anyways? Wouldn't a test at a track they race at be more helpful? I guess the teams will be happy to get more running on the new tires regardless of the venue.

Usually there was a test at Daytona around this time of the year, but Daytona is being resurfaced this fall.

Grand Am is testing at Homestead because it's an ISC track (ISC majority stock holder Jim France is Grand Am's primary owner), and Daytona is being resurfaced. Goodyear asked NASCAR for a tire test there next month, but ISC says that might not happen because of the repaving job.

If the resurfacing job likely won't be done in the first half or December, it seems reasonable that Grand Am wouldn't test at a track that's part dirt, part old nasty asphalt and part new pavement.
