A1 Grand Prix to be shown on Channel 9!!! (Seriosly!)

http://www.a1gp.com/broadcast.php

We will still only get highlights. Can't be worse than ch10

Even less Motor Racing on ch10 next year.

Maybe I should of. I couldn't believe it when I saw it and I wanted to post it ASAP.

That will mean there will be at least one major Motor Racing series on all three major Channels.

Well there's plenty of time for them to decide not to show it after all too

That would have been the case even if 9 weren't showing A1GP, as 9 already have 'Speed Machine' airing.

It could also be played at 2am yet

By the looks of it, even Tanzania, Uganda, Mozambique and Sudan get full races whereas we get highlights!

We do get live full races, just that they are on Foxtel, not FTA.

I would like a 90 minuet highlights show shown at 10:30pm on the following Monday on ch9. Or even better would be full live races .

I don't think the TV coverage will improve much. It still says "highlights only" wich will also mean it will probably be delayed a by week. The only good thing about it is ch9 will probably show it a a better time in the afternoon on Saturday (I would prefer) or Sunday instead of showing it at 11:30pm on Sunday (even when there was no Motor Racing on not alot of Motor Racing on Sunday aternoon) like those stupid ediots at ch10 did.

This will mean Channel 7 will have
  1. V8 Supercars (2007 - 2012)
  2. Champcars (2007 - 20???)
  3. Formula Ford (2007?)
  4. V8 Supercar Development Series (2007?)
  5. Carrera Cup (2007?)
  6. Aussie Racing Cars (2007?)
  7. V8 Utes (2007?)
  8. 30 minuet V8 Supercar show (4 1 hour shows)
and more?

Channel 9 will have the rights to
  1. A1GP (20?? - 20???)
  2. V8 Utes (2007?)
  3. Australian Performance Cars (2007?)
  4. Australian GT & Porshe Drivers Challenge (2007?)
  5. Dutton Rally (2007?)
  6. Indy 500 (20?? -20???)
  7. Lotus Trophy (2007?)
  8. Drag Racing (2007?)
  9. Sprint Cars (2007?)
  10. Drifting (2007?)
and more?

Channel 10 will have the rights to
  1. Formula 1 (2006-2010)
  2. WRC (20?? - 20???)
  3. ARC (2007?)
  4. Moto GP (20?? - 20???)
  5. World Superbikes (20?? - ???) (They may choose not to show the World Superbikes again in 2007 but I think they will have the rights)
  6. Air Race (2006 - 20???)
  7. RPM
  8. Grand Prix Masters (20?? - 20???)
  9. Targa TAsmania (2007?)
and more?

They can't call themselves our "home of Motor Sport" anymore because both ch9, ch7 and SBS will probably all have more Motor Racing than them next year.

Channel 28 (SBS) will have the rights to
  1. Formula 3 (2007?)
  2. Australian Production Cars (2007?)
  3. Australian Performance Cars (2007?)
  4. Australian Motor Racing Series (2007?)
  5. Drag Racing (2007?)
  6. Sprint Cars (2007?)
  7. Drifting (2007?)
  8. Australian Superbikes (2007?)
and alot more?

The amount (and probably the timing) that 9 will be allowed to show will be no different to that shown on 10.Foxtel has sole live and full race broadcast rights for 3 years. They will not allow the value of their package to be eroded by having it shown on a free to air channel.

No Australian FTA TV coverage!!!

It looks like there might be no A1GP FTA TV coverage in Australia. Channel 9 is listed in the TV listing on the A1GP website but I just rang Channel 9 and asked them when it was going to be on and they said "we don't have the rights". Its not listed on Channel 10's schedule (http://www.rpmlive.tv/broadcast.aspx) and channel 9 have said they will not be showing it.

I found this website were you can watch the full races. Go to http://www.rtl.nl/sport/rtl_sport/video/a1gp.xml.

A1GP On Aussie TV

I know that A1GP is telecast on pay-TV, but will it be shown on free-to-air TV over the duration of the season? Even some sort of highlights package for each round. Can anyone help!?

Well the Ch9 TV Guide is listing a China highlights package that will be shown on Ch9 Monday the 20th of Nov at 12.20am. Better than nothing. Wonder if they will do all the races from now on. Sorry if this thread is no more.

Well I can confirm that it was broadcast. As for whether there will be any more, I have no idea. We'll just have to keep an eye on the TV guide.

On a side note - how bad was the air pollution? It was like they were racing through fog in some of the long shots. I was thinking the drivers should be the ones with air filters and not the cars. Yeesh!

Good thing, I didn't have school today, I got to stay up and watch the telecast. Air pollution in China is nothing new... The Shanghai circuit also has fog floating around it...

I had a small program for my pc which let you connect to the Chinese CCTV5, which are broadcasting live. The only problem is that the connection sometimes falls away and that its all in chinese! Check google for programs called 'PPLive, TVAnts, SopCast or TVUPlayer.

good luck!
