Are Audi taking the ALMS seriously?
Audi are set to miss the second round of the ALMS at Sears point because it lies between the Le Mans test day and Le Mans itself. This means that Herbert and the Panoz have a great chance to claim overall honours. Is it me or aren't Audi taking the ALMS seriously? If they were serious, surely they would attend Sears Point, as it looks like the last year of works competition and they'd want to win as much as possible!

Considering that ALMS should mean "Audi Loves Marketing Series" or "Audi Loadsa Money Series" they have to let someone else win now and again - it just makes sense. And the easiest way is to stay at home.

The Audi boys don't show up at the autograph sessions as regularly or stay as long as the other teams. And you almost never see them during the weekend except we did see them at Mosport.

Audi in the ALMS
I do not think they have the best interest of the ALMS in mind skipping a round like this. Fair enough they are commiting to Le Mans which is a big undertaking, but plenty of teams have been at Le Mans for the qualifying and then continued their commitment to a domestic or international series.
A couple of years ago one such team racing a Viper in the British GT Championship, qualified for Le Mans over the weekend and they were at Oulton Park on the monday morning for that mondays round Obviuosly Oulton Park is a little bit closer than Sears Point and the logistics involved are greater but, Audi have the money and the ability to do such a thing but can they be bothered |

Last I heard they are missing the race because it falls between Le Mans and the test day. Where did you hear that from?
