Actually, to be absolutely correct, the races at the OldTimer event in '04 & '05 have been for the Grand Prix Masters series, not TGP, but Tollenaar has been there both years. He was at the event in 2001 when it was really was a TGP race.

Blimey, I've never seen that reported (the 721X racing). Given the notorious reputation of those cars, and the odd interest many of us have in 'rubbish cars', I'd have thought it would have been mentioned somewhere.

Is it to full 721X spec (including the trick gearbox) or has it been modified to make it more user-friendly?

The attention to detail should enable it to run trouble free, but the cars performance is presumably unlikely to trouble the front runners. |

A warm welcome Eddie. We met before at Donington back in 1978!
You came to the UK to see Trevor in his brief campaign in the British F3 Championship I was his 'gofer' back then. Best Regards Andrew. |

Yes Alan correct. The SDC Royale in FF in '77 and blue SDC works March 783 - which had been white up to the race before when Mansell drove it without sponsorship. The same car is now raced in classic F3 by Avon Tyres motorsport boss Julian Baldwin, updated with 793 bodykit.
Trevor crashed it badly at Donington in the Euro round when running in the top 10 and hurt himself, put a wheel out too far wide on the exit kerb. I was watching right there with Trevor's wife! That was his last race in Europe. |

I always thought Trevor a very pleasant chap. I met him once or twice in when he was doing Formula Ford. Always very quiet out of the car but a demon in it. Also a bit of a wizard with engines if I remember rightly.

Welcome Eddie, nice to see you on the site. Not only were you the main man in Gunston, but you started off working on Peter de Klerks Alfa Special, then onto Sam Tingles LDS, and then all the Gunston cars, from 67 Rhodesian Grand Prix to the end of the Atlantic era. Any cars you particularly enjoyed?

March 721/1
Over 10 years ago there was a post on this subject, but it got diverted into discussing the various Surtees cars that raced in the South African Drivers Championship in the 70's. Does anybody know the subsequent history and present whereabouts of the March 721/1, as raced in period by Botha, Sterne and McNicol?
