All depends on whether Ireland has an entry or not, I suppose.
AFIAK, it doesn't. |

I think all he has to do is to apply to the Sheik for a franchise. As he is not apparently doing anything else this might make sense?

If you look at the A1GP website www.a1gp.com you will see that Ireland is a franchise country.

Why?
The Irish team will be looking for a driver from Ireland, not Northern Ireland. |

Actually I now understand you're right on that - A1 UK has changed to A1 GP, suggesting "Ireland" will be the whole island.

It would be great to see a personality like Eddie getting involved in A1. He can only bring the profile of the new series upward...

Think I'm on KB's wavelength here. The UK is all 4, which is aka "Great Britain and Northern Ireland", GB being AFAIK just the mainland. Good point on the FIA code though. Could be interpreted either way I suppose. Depends what options are available in terms of drivers south of the border, ie. probably not much beyond Ralph Firman, and even he's only dual nationality, but at least he's had plenty of time with the car. If they do allow NI drivers, any odds on "The Swerve"?
Be great if EJ did run Team Ireland, love to see it happen. |

It appears most of the franchises are being run by British based teams. Many of the teams were at Silverstone last week where we Brits did rather well comming out top (well done Robbie and keep up the good work Alex at Paul Richard). This championship is really shaping up now with one or two ex F1 guys in the mix. Bernie and F1 will be looking over their shoulders. I have even put my Sky Sports back on to watch it.

And on day one, many countries were not able to set a time during the morning session. Hardly a reason to say that "we Brits did rather well comming out top". |
