Season preview Chat

To give us a chance to discuss to big season changes in real time (and also introduce some of you to the 'wonders' of the chat room); we're organised a time to discuss the new season in the ten-tenths chat room.(so, no excuses about not knowing when people are there for not coming in, ok )

So, come along on Thursday (6th March) at 18:00 GMT. You'll be more than welcome; we don't bite (much); and hopefully we'll be able to have a proper informed discussion (or, then again, maybe not!)

Some people have experienced problems with the chat room via the ten-tenths portal - if you're having difficulty getting in, you can access the same room from this link

If anyone is still having difficulty, please let me know -just a note, if you are connecting from behind a firewall, you may encounter have problems. If you are behind a firewall, you need to ensure that port 6667 is available for traffic.

The link works, but how does that thing work? All I can 'succesfully' do is to read

"you have 60/40/20 seconds to identify for this nickname"
"your nickname has been forcibly changed" to some Guestxxxx
and lots of "no IRC commands supported"

Just to clarify the above, the server that the chat connects to has a nickname registration database. If you happen to go onto the server with a nickname that's already registered, you will get the same message as Red got.

If that happens, just reconnect with a different nickname.

Maxmil, that is normal - you were in the room, Es was in the room and chanserve was in the room.

Es tends to be asleep at this time of the day and chanserv is an automated process. That's why no-one was talking. The connection is working fine.

I will be up getting ready for work I nead to leave by 4.30am so I might get on for a brief spell. Some of us that are at work on Friday Oz time will have to set the VRC's as the live telecast starts at 1.30pm EST OZ and then all day Saturday and Sunday. Yeh !!!

So I went to a chatroom and shared it with a sleeping person and an "automated process", my usual good luck prevailing. The overstocked Nissan dealer was included in the channel topic. Channel ops can set the topic of the channel and it appears in this case that Es really wants whatever is at the other end of that link!
