I found what Bodysnatcher may have seen, but this seems way off the mark

Richard is right, I misread, Tony T's father was Antonio - hence the confusion.

Whatever the murky past of the people at the top of A1GP, I want it to survive, not just because it gives us a unique format of racing, but because drivers (in theory) did'nt have to pay for their drives, costs supposedly borne by the franchise holders.

Then there are the small businesses and their employees depending on this to make a living.

Kebab has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
None of the small businesses that supplied A1 GP Operations are going to get paid ... just look at the GBR situation where even drivers went unpaid.

If they resurrect themselves next year, I am sure new suppliers will be found and the old ones will be screwed.

Depending on A1 for your living would seem rather silly given their track record.

I do have the feeling that TT's past and reputation does tend to make things a bit harder. We do have no way of knowing off course.

Fact remains that they do run it like it's any other mining cooperation, and not a racing series. They could have made a lot more money out of this allready if they had wanted to.

A lot more???? A1gp has lost 100's of millions, no money making in this serie.

As for the bankruptcy, whatever the next step is, as long as there is a bankruptcy suppliers will lose money. That will harm the reputation of the serie.

Yes a lot more.. through indirect ways.. By going for the big contract they limited their exposure, and after 4 years, there still is pretty much no merchandise.

Limited exposure and no merchandise is a recipe for disaster.

To give you an example: during the Birmingham motorshow, the A1GP media people only were there on the press days.. and not during the public days... blunders like that is asking for bankruptcy

Ok, you like that. I agree with that.

A1gp has spent so much money on items that did not add much value in the big picture. Business F1 did a report on a1gp in their first season about the tv-production costs, apparently A1 used way more cameras compared to other series (including f1). Costs were about $2 million a race, whereas a serie like dtm or champcar spend $500-$600k a race. All i could think was: great for the die-hard fan those extra cameras, but why spend all this when the general audience cannot/will not watch the serie because you are not broadcasted by the major networks (and therefor no one has a clue the race is on tv)? You'll never recoup these costs...

Well if they sank all that dough into TV coverage, it sure sucked big time.
I always found A1 TV painful to watch, part could've been the git from that island west of Britain that made it so.

I've always found the TV coverage of A1GP to be excellent.

I guess it depends on the territory you are in. It's been excellent for me but if it would be spectacular if it was broadcast on free tv. Fortunately most people here are on satellite though I'm sure not all may have subscription to ESPN Star.

Your uncalled for remark about John Watson is an indication of your imaturity. If you have a view make it without retorting to personal insult
