I've pics from Oulton on the rest of the film.

Hello Andy
Gentlemen
Andy
Are you sure, it looks like Croft Autodrome. I may be wrong, it was a long time ago!

Kind Regards

So far I've only been to Croft once - back in 1974 iirc - but I have to say it looked vaguely familiar and not like anywhere else I can recall.

The map here seems to fit as well.

The description that accompanies the page certainly sounds familiar. For a number of reasons, some mentioned there, it was a visit not easily forgotten.

Picture of the Shadow, in yellow, with different number at a Croft event.

Well, the site linked above is most interesting.

Try this link.

No help with photos of the Croft start line with much more than the cars in frame but this page is still interesting for other reasons.

I stand corrected, I felt that it couldn't have been Croft.

I've still got the photo on computer. Just to the right of the Eagle Star banner, there's a red brick building, that wouldn't be the water tower at the top of Clay Hill, Oulton?
Was there any thing like that at Croft?

The structure in the photo looks just like it is based on an Airfield Control Tower is in just the right place related to the circuit map found at the link posted earlier.

Furthermore if one looks at Google maps of the current circuit there is a building, possibly a farm or a former farm, together with a copse of trees in what seems to be about the right position for the red brick building that Andy mentioned a coupld of posts ago. In fact there are a couple of possibilities for that if one makes allowance for possible changes over the last 30 years.

Is the film continuous and contiguous strips or might it be a mix of more than one film? Some of mine, those that I can find after my wife's tidying up activity, seem to have become a little mixed up over the years despite appearing to have been stored in their orginal protective storage. It can be very confusing at times.

AAh! 1977
Sir
Thank you for that. But they are mistakes. The car I'am driving is in fact ex Pete Clarke, same F3M1 just with updated bodywork. The first F3 Modus built #001. I only did a few laps, the clutch broke. In practice the airbox venturi flew off so we made a new one out of a Coke tin and taped it to the airbox.
After that one and only event I ended up swapping it along with the 'Transporter' (BR parcel wagon) for a couple of road cars. A 1970 Ford Escort estate and a '72 Cortina!!

Regards
Eric

Welcome to the Forum Eric. When I saw your name appear a few days ago I wondered if it was the same Eric Horsfield who raced the Moskvich, Capri etc in the 70's. Having Tony Lanfranchi as a team mate must have been interesting!

Thanks Alan and Eric, I was trying to remember where I recognised the name from.
It would make sense re film. I've pics from Libre race, and then a pic from Lodge, Oulton. I always used to watch at Lodge.
I can't remember, but was they're trees etc between Croft start and Barcroft and Sunny?
Andy
