Maybe, I’m not sure. A friend watched it from a browser on their laptop and reported it was OK, but this didn’t involve casting it.

Ah yes, have to say that the app was fine on my phone, although the stream performed horrendously on my PC. The option to cast from my phone wasn't available for me as I needed my phone, but that solution would have worked for sure.

There were 3 sources for the IMSA TV videos on legit sites. One never worked at all, one website died due to server overload, and the other was up and down like...I'll stop that sentence there.

Worth noting that in a few weeks, IMSA will upload the entire race to YouTube. That's always worth having on in the background whilst working.

Alonso to race in all WEC rounds except Japan.

And it seems McLaren-Renault have no problem him racing him a Toyota car. I really think this post Bernie era could see more drivers doing it if they want to, then again Zak Brown might be different from other team managers when it comes to this

I suspect a large part of this is... if we want to keep Alonso... we have to let him do stuff like this. I would be shocked if this level of freedom was not part of his agreement to stay for 2018.

I don't disagree that Zak Brown might be predisposed to allow it as well. I hope it sets the right tone with other teams. Personally I think it can only help F1 in that as drivers participate in other formulas, they may carry fans of those series (who otherwise might not be F1 fans) back into F1.

God, this really pains me, but I take my hat off to the Spaniard. He is obviously enthused by a love of the sport and an appreciation of its history and heritage. Why did it have to be the only driver I really dislike??

lots of sporting reasons to like the decision but the cynic in me is now wondering how 'unmotivating' Alonso will find the 2018 Mclaren?

Alonso's demotivation, should be much the same as anyone not driving the number 1 Merc I would guess.

If he can win the WEC by Japan, can see him missing the US GP.

Given the lack of other manufacturers, it will be hard for Toyota to not win most every race IMHO. So I would expect Alonso to keep to the published schedule and get both a LeMans win and WEC title (still requires luck and he has sister cars to complete against). I think his timing is very good for his assault on the triple crown. Lack of competition at LeMans and Indy 500 with generally spec cars (easier to assemble a competitive package)

It's me, or Alonso Deportago is the lead driver of Chase Carey via Zak Brown, hence his motorsportdoctom sponsorship on his overall?

Brundle did a slate of sportscar races with F1 as did Derek Warwick. Teo Fabi in the early 80s was a regular in both Indycar and F1, albeit not full time precisely.

I seem to remember Brundle running in as many WSC races as his F1 schedule allowed in 1991

It's just been announced that the Fuji WEC race has been brought forward by a week so that it no longer clashes with the USA Grand Prix. This means that Alonso will be now be able to contest all 6 rounds of the championship without missing any Grand Prixes.

It does help that Fuji, who requested that the FIA allow the very late change, is owned by Toyota for whom Alonso just so happens to be driving for.

And by doing so they've managed to alienate an awful lot of sportscar and endurance drivers who would otherwise have been doing Petit Le Mans that weekend. Drivers with contracts to do that.

But hey, PLM is an IMSA race, so they can go hang, right?

This I think the FIA have got very wrong.

Ironically I noticed one of the names affected is Mike Conway, Alonso's Toyota teamate.

Bad decision to move it to clash with PLM, they could have found another weekend, but anyway, let's see if Fred can win the title now

I thought this an interesting question.

You are right, Stefan Bellof was probably the last genuine F1 driver to run in other programs in 1984 and 1985 he drove for Tyrrell in F1, and Brun in WEC (Champion in 1984) and Deutsche Rennsport Meisterschaft (precursor to DTM on steroids) (Champion in 1984). Quite a program.

Teo Fabi was the last full time F1 driver to run at Indy in 1984 before Alonso in 2017.

Michele Alboreto appears to be the last full time F1 driver to run in F2 in 1981, the 1982 F2 Championship being billed as a feeder to F1 seems to indicate that maybe the FIA changed some sort of entrance criterion??
