I wouldn’t say it’s disgraceful but it is a big problem for the series. How do you keep the series in the public eye in that gap without extended coverage on FTA? I would say that the sport is more niche then it’s ever been and that makes thing even worse.

It's where guys like Mixer might want to check their opinion on what makes up a "real" national championship, particularly when he takes a crap on TCR Australia.

Ok, supercars has a 12 meeting series. But C7, and 10 before that, are effectively saying it's only worth 6. That includes Bathurst, which shouldn't be in the championship anyway.

If a 10 (or 8) round series was offered (Something normal), then a fta channel might happily cover the whole series including the "crap" meetings. But as it is, they cherry pick what they see are the "good ones".

edit; The current deal includes two Bathurst meetings. So commercially, supercars is only worth 4 non Bathurst meetings!

Secondly I watch a tonne of other car shows or other shows on docos.

However I might give it 12 months and change my mind

I have to decide soon if I want to pay up for 2021. I was on a good deal with free instal, HD and IQ4(?) c$45/mo, but have to decide in the next couple of weeks if I stay or go.

I am not interested in streaming (lousy satellite NBN), I have big screen OLED TV and want picture quality to match. I'm willing to pay for picture quality, but not to the point of sacrificing a kidney.

Kayo has a $5 a month deal if you have some AFL app or something.

I was always going to sign back up when the F1 season started but $60 for twelve months is too good a deal to pass up.

I got an email from Foxtel telling me the special deal I was getting expired this month and as such my next months charges 'might' reflect this.

I simply rang Foxtel, told them after many years loyalty I think I might call it a day unless they could find me some alternative similar cost special offer.

I was very pleased when they, after a minute 'checking,' came back and told me they would happily continue the special offer price for another year.

This is interesting, others may be aware of it but I don't subscribe to Murdoch's media

Yet Foxtel is the only pay TV operator restricted under the legislation, meaning it can’t bid for certain rights at the same time as free-to-air networks and other streaming players. It claims that even Kayo - which isn’t a traditional pay TV operator - is also restricted and considers this an unfair disadvantage. Kayo has also recently launched a freemium option, putting some events in front of its paywall such as Netball and Supercars in a bid to drive growth. It has also been offering discounted subscriptions through partnerships with brands such as Uber.

As a glued on labour voter I applaud that he did but it was only because his agenda suited him to do it.

As he supported Whitlam in '72 and later Hawke.

Murdoch is a populist and despite what the present narrative might say is neither wedded to the left or the right of politics.

On the plus side he continues to publish the best newspaper in Australia (The Australian) which provides balanced commentary with engaging stories, including indigenous issues and the arts which you won't find in other papers.

And what other newspaper regularly mentions the exploits of Phil Alexander?

Thank-you for answering and I guess I should get back to the topic.

Hate to go off topic but to say that Murdoch is not wedded to the right of politics is bizarre. His occasional support of Labor has been more about personal vendettas against people in the Coalition -see Turnbull in the last week for an example-and realising that when Labor is definitely going to win he doesn’t want to be seen as backing losers and jumps sides for a few months. Then look at what he does in the rest of the world where he runs media. He is a cancer on democracy.
As for The Australian being the best newspaper in Australia and providing “balanced commentary” you are surely having a joke.Their climate change denialism alone disqualifies them from any claim like this.It is The Daily Telegraph dressed up in big words and pretension.
Now back to our regularly scheduled programming.

The old "cancer on democracy" conspiracy theory.

As though people when deciding to cast their vote or form their opinions are somehow beholden to what appears in the Murdoch media and lack the ability to explore other avenues of information or seek to expand their knowledge beyond that.

I give people more credit than that.

For the record I am 9 times out of 10 a Labor voter and believe climate change is real. I never watch Sky News and enjoy reading The Australian and listening to the ABC.

I also have Kayo to watch Supercars and F1.

Last comment before I leave the building.80% of voters are set in their ways.Elections are decided by the other 20%.
Every study done in recent years show that those 20% mostly have 2 defining characteristics-they are frightened of any change and have lower than average levels of education. Those 20% are ripe pickings for Murdoch.
For the record I am no great fan of much of what the Labor Party does and have had Foxtel for well over 20 years.

The various prosecutions for anticompetitive practices would have something to do with it.

Also the FREE Supercars races are the same ones on 7. So in other words, it not adding anything for customers, it is specifically designed to hurt a competitor.

Seen in the European Super League protests was a large banner saying “Fans Not Customers”.Someone needs to erect this in Neil Crompton’s line of vision.Apparently he was saying it again on the weekend which suggests either he is deliberately trolling the fan base or is too stupid/arrogant to learn.

It's deliberate trolling, just not of the fan base....

SS - Neil, we're letting Rianna and Mark go. You're going to play nice or you'll be commentating TCR

NC - Sean! What about the fans!!!

SS - Jesus Christ Neil, they're not fans, they're bloody customers!
